Wrapping up the year with WOW!

Hi WOW fans,

Happy New Years Eve! Can you believe that it is December 31st already? Where did the year go? This year marks the first ever US design team for WOW! embossing powders and our WOW! girls did a wonderful job representing our products.

When I think of New Years I think of glitter - so I have a fun glittery layout to share with you today.

Title: Merry & Bright by DT Lead Gina Lideros

I first started my layout by cutting out this 12x12 star background with my Silhouette.
Then I used my Versamark ink pad to ink the whole background in portions. I covered my background with Angel Wings embossing glitter and then heat embossed it. Because it was such a large area, I had to do a couple of layers. The result is so glittery and fun.

Next, I stamped my title Merry & bright on a shipping tag using the Merry and Bright Christmas stamp set and embossed my title and a few cut out stars using Sierra Sunrise.

WOW supplies:
Angel wings embossing glitter
Sierra Sunrise Embossing Glitter
Merry And Bright Christmas stamp set
other supplies:
vintage ephemera pieces, stick pins: My Minds eye
ink: Versamark
cutting tool: Silhouette Cameo
cutting file: mesh star lace (Jamie Koay)

Happy New Year's Eve everyone! Be safe!

.: The ugly Duckling :.

Hi!
It´s Katarina here with today's educator post.
This post means so much to me, it´s my farewell to all of my lovely DT colleagues, and a team that I have loved to be a part of. It´s also a farewell to all of you blog readers, that have followed me here, from my first trying steps as a video educator until today. But all good things must come to an end, and I have decided that it´s time for me to move on.

I love all the great girls in this team, there have been a family spirit among us from day one, and that's something I will remember.

Today I´m sharing with you this project that I did the other day... it´s a pair of ugly duckling shoes. :)
all you need is a Cameo, or any other kind of die cut machine, some book cover vinyl, and some WOW embossing sparkly embossing powder, I used the metallic platinum sparkle.

What I did? Well I turned a well worn comfy shoes in to my party shoes for new years eve...

and with this I wish you all a Happy New Year, and I hope that 2013 will be a good, creative year for all of you.

Embossing chipboard to make fancy cards

Hello, my dear crafty friends! Irit is here and this time I want to show you a couple of cards I made with Wow Embossing Powders and Wow stamps. This is my last post on USA team and I am moving to WOW EMBOSSING POWDERS UK/GLOBAL team from January, also  those are still pretty much same gorgeous products I designed with for a year.
The first card is this very lovely Bee Happy card.
I used Prima papers, a piece of Honeycomb A2Z Scraplets chipboard and Wow stamp HAPPY from the  Everyday Sentiments set.
The chipboard piece was inked with clear embossing  ink and then heat embossed twice with  Soar Lemon Yellow embossing powder. The Happy word was a part of Happy Birthday sentiment, but I used this plastic Bee for a part of my Bee Happy sentiment after all. I  Used the same Yellow powder for the word Happy.

My second card is this shabby, but yet clean and simple card, made with Brocade background stamp . I used light blue cardstock and white ink to stamp on it, and them heat embossed it with  Opaque Bright White embossing powder. Then I made a circle punched window and stamped the Cameo image from Simply Amazing stamp set  using  Bay Day Area Blue powder this time. Finally I added the stamped sentiment from the same set

See you all around and thanks to SUZY WEST for a wonderful year together! See you on UK/Global blog  posts!

Happy New Year in Style!

Jen here to wish everyone a belated Merry Christmas!  I am now looking forward to celebrating the New Year! I made a fun paper crown to use as decoration or to wear when I ring in 2013!
A front view of the paper crown.  I used paper for the crown part and choose a double sided patterned paper for a fun look.
Here you can see the other side of the paper!
I covered the numbers and stars with WOW Embossing glitter powder.  The numbers are Bodacious Blue Embossing Glitter and the butterfly frame behind it is Angel Wings. The stars are covered in Sierra Sunset and Metallic Platinum Sparkle Embossing Glitter.
I made a paper medallion and attached the frame and numbers to it.  This was glued to the front of the crown.
Here you can see the edges of the crown points that are edged in Metallic Platinum Sparkle.  I just used VersaMark along the edges and then covered it with the powder.
The stars are attached to a circle punched out and a piece of floral wire between them.
I love these Embossing Glitters from WOW... they are super sparkly and don't rub off like regular glitter.  I love that I can heat set them and not worry about the sparkles falling off later!  The colors are rich and beautiful!

Happy New Year and we are wishing you wonderful 2013!

Supplies:
WOW Embossing Powders: Metallic Platinum Sparkle, Bodacious Blue, Sierra Sunset, and Angel Wings Embossing Glitter
VersaMark
Patterned Papers: Studio Calico
Grungeboard shapes/ numbers
Helmar Adhesives
Punches: EK Success and Martha Stewart
Floral wire

Homemade Christmas present... mini magnets

Hi everyone,

It's Sarah here (from Sarah Rhodes Designs Blog) with today's blog post based around using Ultra High Embossing Powder... I strayed off the theme of New Year as I knew exactly what I wanted to create with the Ultra High Embossing Powder... something that I've had on my 'to do list' for ages!

I saw the idea of Pantone chip magnets on Pinterest a while ago but tried it (as they recommended) with a 3D gloss but it didn't work... once the chips had dried, they were fuzzy and slightly blurred. I print from an ink jet printer (as I'm sure most people do) so if the ink gets wet... it does run and this was the problem! I wanted to try the same idea but using Ultra High Embossing Powder as the print out would only be in contact with a light coating of versamark ink and so I didn't think it would bleed... anyway as you can see it worked! :D

Homemade_Pantone_Chip_Magnets

I wanted to make a few sets as I wanted one to keep and two to give away to some of my design friends as part of the Christmas presents! Here are brief instructions on how to make them:

STEP ONE

You can either use actual Pantone chips that you have or like me if you aren't lucky enough to own any Pantone chip books, print out the Pantone chips from this template file here...
(The colours won't be exact to Pantone colours as you can't accurately print Panotne Colours from a standard printer). Choose a high quality print setting so that you end up with a nice vibrant print with no streaks in your print.

STEP TWO

Using double sided tape, attach the thin card to a thicker mount board (ideally with white edges). Cut out the chips. There are guidelines on the print out so if you cut along these lines (but not to the edge of the card) so that you can still use the guidelines to cut from.

STEP THREE

Ink up a few of your chips with clear versamark ink and lay on a white sheet of paper (being careful to only handle the chips by the edges).

STEP FOUR

Pour over the Ultra High Embossing Powder.

STEP FIVE

Pick each of the chips up (handle them only by the edges) and place onto an over tray lines with foil.

STEP SIX

Place the tray in the oven at about 140 Degree's Celsius for 2-3 minutes until the powder melts. Take the tray out of the oven and wait for the chips to cool and then ink up with clear versamark and cover with another layer of Ultra High Embossing Powder and place back into the oven. This will give you a lovely thick and smooth coating.

STEP SIX

Add a magnet to the back. I used these lovely silver circle magnets as they look neat and are very strong. Attach them using hot glue (or another strong glue).

Homemade_Pantone_Chip_Magnets
The finished result... a lovely set of Pantone Chip Magnets. You could also create a similar thing using mini printed polaroid style photo's... template and more photo's will follow when I get onto this.

Here's a list of the Wow products that I used:
Ultra High Embossing Powder

Other products that I used:
Versamark Ink
White Card
Mount Board
Magnets
Hot Glue (or another type of strong glue)
Oven
Printer
Scalpel
Cutting Matt
Metal Ruler
Double Sided Tape

I wonder what else could be made using this technique... we would love for you to share your creations with us on our Wow Embossing Powder Facebook page. Pin It Now!

Art Journal Every Day December - Christmas Traditions

Hi there, Birgit here! Welcome to the WOW! blog today!

This is my last post on this blog. As from January I will be switching to the WOW! UK/Global Blog.
Thank you Suzy, Gina and Wow! Design Team members for a wonderful year! And thank you readers for reading my blog posts! I hope I was able to inspire you and jump start your creativity! Hopefully I will see you all again on the UK blog!

It's almost Christmas and I want to share with you an art journal page about my Christmas tree decorations for which I created an embossed Christmas tree.

I started with applying an Adhesive Sheet (Scrapbook AdhesivesTM by 3L) to a piece of cardstock and embossed it with a mix of green embossing powders, Glamour Green Glitter, Earthtone Olive Regular, Primary Evergreen Super Fine (WOW! Embossing Powders).

AJED december13 - step1  AJED december13 - step2

Then I tore the embossed paper into pieces, creating the branches of the tree.

AJED december13 - step3

I added some turquoise acrylic paint to 2 pieces of patterend paper to create a background and applied the branches to the paper starting from the bottom layering the pieces of embossed paper.

AJED december13 - step4  AJED december13 - step6

I used an E-Z Runner, only covering the middle part of the branches. The edges of the branches being not glued down and curling up a little reinforces the effect of the layers.

AJED december13 - step7  AJED december13 - step8

After I finished the tree I added the journaling using a white sharpie. All the German song titles of Peter
Alexanders Christmas songs :)

AJED december13 - step9

I added crystals as Christmas ornaments and highlighted some of the words.

The wooden snowflake was embossed with Silver Hologram Sparkle embossing powder for a sparkling effect.

AJED december13 - day 8 - detail1

The finished left side:

The finished right side:

Thank you for stopping by today in these busy times! Wishing you all a wonderful Christmas!!

Party Invitations Booklet for 2013

Hi there, Christine here again with this month's project.

This month Iv'e created a Party Invitations Booklet so I can add all my friends names and addresses into one place ready to get those invites out in the post.

To make this booklet you need a piece of Funky Foam folded in half. Cut into the edges to distress and heat the foam up with a heat gun in sections. Whilst each section is hot, press a stamp or other item with a raised surface into the foam.  Ink up the raised surfaces with a gold ink pad.

Tear a piece of blue paper and scrunch it up, fold it out flat and ink up the edges and surface with brown ink.  Add clear Versamark Embossing Pad to the raised surface areas only and emboss with Caribbean Jewels "Cayman Coral" Embossing Powder.

Emboss some cut out numbers 2013 with Martinique Mauve from the "Caribbean Jewels" set and add this to the front. Emboss some chipboard shapes with Kalahari powders from the "Desert Sands" kit. Then to finish, write out the words "Party Invitations" with a glue pen and add Bright Gold Foil when tacky. To complete the booklet add a tassle to the edge ready to slip your pages inside -

Happy Christmas and New Year to you all.

Products used in this project were:    Caribbean Jewells Kit - Cayman Coral Powder
                                                                                              Martinique Mauve
                                                        Desert Sands Kit         - Kalahari
                                                        Fab Foil - Bright Gold

A yummy Christmas package with WOW!

Hello!  Jen Roach here and today I have a little Christmas package to share with you.  During the holidays I give a fair amount of gift cards and I always like to come up with a pretty package to put them in.

For this package I stamped all over a white wedding treat bag with the Funky Borders stamps set and then created a little collage with some scraps of paper, ribbon and a gingerbread man.  To make my gingerbread man appear like a "real" cookie, I heat embossed it with some of the WOW! Earthtone Nutmeg embossing powder.  It really adds a lot of texture and gives him the appearance of being a real cookie.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

A close up of the texture the embossing powder adds......

A few more details.....

CHALLENGE- Embossing on Fabric

Hi Jenifer here with you today to present our next challenge.  Did you know you could emboss on fabric?  Well you can, and just imagine all the possibilities :)
I have embossed on some plain muslin and made these cute gift tags for Christmas.
Here is a close up of the Metallic Platinum Sparkle embossing glitter on white muslin.  You emboss on fabric the same way you would on paper.

Here is a close up of the bright white embossing powder.
These "Tags"  they are super easy to make all you need is 2 pieces of fabric and a piece of felt sandwiched in the middle and sew around all the edges.  Embellish as desired.  I plan to use these on some layouts after they come off the packages.

I hope this has inspired you to create some of your own custom embellishments. I hope you play along.

BELIEVE .....

When you need a card in a hurry, this is your one...
It's one of my favourite designs, I first did this card a few years ago, but without embossing powder, now I ONLY do it with embossing powder, it really makes it POP !!!
All you need is the following:-

5" square card
Scrap card for the baubles and sentiment
Ribbon
and not forgetting your fabulous Blizzard and Collage stamps

Ink up your Blizzard Stamp and on a scrap piece of card stamp the design, then using your two favourite colours out of the Limited Edition Set, sprinkle the two colours over the design, shake off the excess and heat set.

From this, punch out two circles. These can then be mounted on the card front, add a bit of thin ribbon, then take two bits of ribbon and tie a knot and stick this just above the bauble.

Stamp the word believe from the Collage set and cut into a banner, cut a larger banner and emboss this, mount the sentiment on top and add to the card. and that's it, a simple little last minute card to make ...

Have a gorgeous christmas everyone
Hugs
