Three Cheers with Gemma

Today I have a card to share featuring a new embossing glitter trio called Riviera. These fun mixes have coloured embossing powder and glitter along with larger granules of white and black. They give such a unique finish and the embossed patterns are different every time.

As the theme of the Facebook challenge this month is DIY embellishments, I decided to use the Riviera trio to create some fun embellishments for my card.

I die cut the Lawn Fawn Cheers word die several times from white card. I layered three of the words together to create a stacked die cut, then embossed with the Provencal embossing glitter. I repeated this step with the other two powders in the trio, to create three cheers.

For my background, I used the Love Stripes embossing folder from Fun Stampers Journey to add texture to a piece of white card. I added two thin strips of Cool Pool FSJ card to the top and bottom of my card base, then adhered the embossed panel over the top.

Textured Embellishments by Jaine

Texture plays a big part in my projects that's why I love embossing so much, but to add embossing on texture paste goes that little bit further in adding even more depth and interest.

For this card layout I decided on a circle theme taking inspiration from the stamp set Round and Round from WOW! I also wanted a bright vibrant background so went for my favourite green-blue hues over a pink-orange watercolour background.
After cutting and painting my circles I added a light texture paste through a dotty stencil.
While this was still wet I sprinkled Serene from the Riviera Trio set and allowed it to settle on the texture paste. I dried both the powder and paste together and deliberately let the heat tool linger a bit longer. This caused the paste underneath to bubble up slightly exaggerating the depth of texture!

I think what I like the most about this particular embossing glitter, is that mottled finish created with the blend of different sized particles. It's so different.

Scrap Embellishments by Jaine

The new theme for September is DIY Embellishments, and I love to make my own from scraps of paper and fabric, layering them together to create little clusters which I can use on anything from cards to journals. I have a box of collage materials which includes die cut shapes which I can emboss onto and sew together with my off cuts to create these little embellishments.

As a base to create two ATC's, I used some of my scrap papers to collage over the surface of pre cut card and scraped gesso over them to tone down the colour. I gathered a few pieces I wanted to use along with the new Riviera Trio powders which I absolutely love.

After embossing the die cuts with the three Riviera powders, I played about with the little clusters layering them together until I was happy.

I ran everything including the ATC base through the sewing machine a few times, randomly stitching it all together.

To finish I added some typed words and a starfish on one of them.

I love the colours of these …
