Bringing design to a light

I love the theme that we were given to work with this month!
I knew what I wanted to make right away!
I have been slowly creating and moving into a crafty studio in my house and I wanted a nice light shade for the ceiling light.
So this is what I created....

The light was on when I took these pictures so it's quite hard to see the colours, but scroll down and you will see a close up shot of the butterflies.
I die cut lots of different butterflies and chose my colour scheme.. I used melt it powder, frozen berries, primary purple orchid, purple glitz, violet pearl and blue topaz

I wanted a purple mix so I took a silver dish and combined my purples.
Then I inked the butterflies and embossed them, one at a time.
To attach them to my lampshade I used a hot glue gun.
Here is the close up of the butterflies on the shade...
I think they look really pretty.
We would love to see how you use your embossing powders around the home with your DIY projects, play along with the challenge and you c…

My one stamp different ways....

Hi everyone - Nikki from the dt here.
I have loved working with this theme..... pick one stamp and do different things with it....
My main stamp that I chose was the 'De-Vine' stamp. It's a new stamp from WOW! and I love it!!!!
The stamp I used for the sentiment on the first card was the 'ME Collage stamp'.
Here is a picture of the stamps so you know what to look for......
And here are the cards I created with them,
For the first card I stamped in clear ink and used purple orchid powder to emboss....... This created the back panel.
For the greeting I arranging the words on my stamp block and then stamped with clear ink onto some scrap card..... to create the different colour effect I sprinkled this with purple orchid and  spring breeze powders and then heat embossed.
I love that technique as you get a different effect every time.
I wanted to show that the 'De-Vine' stamp could also be used for a very pretty little Christmas card......
This one has been s…

The gift of time

Hi everyone, Nikki here. Today it's my turn to do the WOW! inspiration post.... this month our theme is TIME, so me to there was only one thing that I wanted to do... a clock....
I picked up a clock at a discount shop a while ago and I wanted to turn it into something a bit more special.
So this is what I came up with.......
I used some of the WOW! resist paper instead of a photograph and then inked it match the embossing powders that I had chosen.
To create the leaves in the background I used passion fruit and primary chartreuse.
For the edge of the quilled flowers I used primary purple orchid and for the butterflies I used frozen berries, calypso and orange fizz. These are all new colours and I think they are just stunning!!!
A must have to your embossing powder collection.
Here's a close up to show off some of the yummy sparkle...
As a little extra I wanted to share with you another great way to use your embossing powders... You can use them to create wonderful splatter …

Floral gardens

Hi everyone,
Nikki here for my dt post.
Looking around my garden this morning I was inspired to make this card.....

I made the stem of the flower by melting some clear embossing powder then pouring it onto my glass mat. I could have played with this technique for ages!
The flowers are again made with clear embossing powder that has been melted then poured into some of our silicone moulds.
The green backing paper was made by inking up some of our resist paper. I love this paper - I think it's a craft bag must have!

To create this card I used
Melt it powder
Shabby rose mould
Medium rose mould
Resist paper

We would love to see your embossed projects on our garden theme.... remember to join in with us this month....

My little Guiding light

Hi there, Nikki here for my inspirational post.
Now our theme for this month is glass, so I thought that I would decorate a tealight holder and create an embellishment that although is made with embossing powder, looks like it has been made out of glass.
This is the finished result....

and here a couple of little close ups for you.

I attached the twine with a little bit of double sided tape and then covered it all in clear ink. Then I rolled the holder in clear embossing powder, once heated this gave the twine the glossy look.
I melted some red embossing powder and poured it into the heart mould.

It doesn't take long to set at all.
I used a little bit of silicone glue to fix the finished heart into place.

We would love to see what you create in this theme.
Happy crafting

What I used,

Clear embossing powder
Heat gun
Red embossing powder
Silicone mould

The theme this month is Family and I wanted to extend it beyond the normal ideal of family.... to me family is not only the family that you were born into, but also the friends you make as the family you create for yourself - and then for me, there is the additional family in the crafting world - our crafting family...
So I got to thinking about how I could show off some WOW! products while creating a project that included all of the above!
And it came to me at 2am this morning!
This what I wanted to create......

I have created a thank you card...... to say thank you to all my friends and family for all the support they have given me, thank you to WOW! for giving me such wonderful product to work with over the past year and a massive thank you to all of you..... thank you for playing along with the challenges, thank you for stopping by my own blog too to see what I have been up to and for leaving me lovely comments.... and thank you to you all for the inspiration that you all give to …

A Christmas Star

Hi there, Nikki here to share my Christmas inspiration with you.
I thought I would make a decoration for my Christmas tree using up all those  scraps of paper that I seem to have collected over the year.
So this is what I made,

I made lots and lots of little flowers from all my scraps and then glued them onto a polystyrene star.
Then I inked the whole star and covered it with gold embossing powder.......
This gave a really pretty edging to all the flowers - I really like this effect and it reflects the lights from the Christmas tree beautifully....
Are you all ready for Christmas?
WOW! Embossing Powders make a lovely stocking filler for all your crafty friends - pop on over to the shop (you will find some fab stamps, foils and silicone moulds too!!!!!).

Inspired by Art Deco

I love Art Deco so was really pleased to see the challenge that WOW set us this month.
I decided to do something a bit different this month....
Art deco to me is designs with hearts, silver and elegant....
So I decided to create a birthday heart wall hanging..... if you wanted to you could add a handle to the heart and then you would have a fan....... But I liked to the idea of a wall hanging...
So this is what I created...
Here are a few close ups for you....

This really was a lot of fun to make and I can see me making a lot more...
The base of the heart is just cut (freehand) from a cardboard box... then I painted it with a cream acrylic paint.
Next I inked the edges of everything I wanted to use with silver embossing powder - I do love the effect that this has given to the edges and flowers.
We would love to see what you create with the art deco theme..... make sure you add your blog link so that we can pop over and leave you some crafty love xx
