Hey Goofy You - a layout by Riikka Kovasin

Hello there lovelies! It's Riikka here today to share a layout with you. The theme of the month is "self-made embellishments" and the first thing that popped to my head was the half pearls. I also made some other embellishments of a sort to the page, too.
The topic of my page is my younger daughter who is a little show woman. I took this picture while she was helping me to take a few photos by holding the background upright and popped her head to the shot. That grin and the impulsiveness of the situation tell a lot about her, kind of is her.

I wanted the page to be happy and whimsical, like she is, so I used pinks and peachy colors in it. I first created the background using one of the new stamp sets by Marion called "Round and Round". Then I added some watercolor in the mix. After that was the time to create the embellishments - I used "Bright White" embossing powder to make myself a self-made transparency and "Queen of Hearts" to make th…

Be(you)tiful - a layout by Riikka Kovasin

Moikka! It's Riikka here today to share a layout with you. The inspiration to this page came from the wonderful colors of the WOW! powders - they make such beautiful rainbows! I decided to create a rainbow to my layout twice, once to the background and the other time to the layering paper.

I used my favorite WOW! stamp set in the make. I used it in the background, in the paper layers and also as the title. The stamp set is called "Big Words". I love the sayings in the set, the font and also how the letters are spaced! Really wonderful and handy set to have.
To make the words visible on the rainbow colored background I used "Bright White" powder, echoing the white cardstock I used as the background. For the layering paper, I did the opposite - used white cardstock as the base and rainbow colored powders on top.
If you want to see how the page was made, please see the video below!

The layout is about my younger daughter. She's such a beautiful person, but …

Love you, sister - a layout by Riikka

Hiya, it's Riikka here to share a peachy layout with you with a lot of golden accents. The warm and sweet palette seemed just the thing for this page.
I'm the only child and naturally I wished for a sister or sibling when I was little. My two daughters are less than two years apart and they seem most of the time almost inseparable. As my older one is drawing nearer to teens, she requires more personal space than before, but usually then play together and even read together.

I started doing the layout from the background upwards and like so often, started by adding mediums to the background and transforming it to something of my own. Please see the step by step tutorial below, should you want to know how I made the layout.

Step 1. I started the page with a glue pen and golden foil. As the foil sticks to anything sticky, I added the glue pen here and there in the background and then pushed the foil on top. The outcome is vintage looking, almost like aged gilding or old wallpa…

Light - a layout by Riikka

Hi there and happy December! It's the middle of the winter and I'm sharing a layout with flowers with you... maybe a bit off the season, but the inspiration for the blooms came from the cute bear stamp by Pink and Main which I used as an embellishment in my page. And maybe it's good to think about the summer, blooms and warm weather when it's dark and gloomy outside!

The page is about light, more specifically light at the end of the tunnel. It's quite the same with winter, in a way. Through the rough patch and into the light! And as it's almost Holiday season, I didn't want to do and show anything too heavy or hard, just something light and nice to do between chores of getting ready for Christmas!
As always, I took step by step photos along the way when working with the layout. Underneath you can see how the page came together!

Step 1. Start by making a resist to the background. I stamped some text in there using two stamp sets, "Big Words" and…
