Spring Egg Shrine | Favourite Embossing Techniques

Hi everyone,
It's Fran here with you today.
My latest project takes on the theme of the month, favourite embossing techniques. I have showcased a couple of mine in this Spring themed egg shrine, complete with the sweetest tiny bird and nest. Read on to find out what they are!

The project started out with a plain papier mache egg decoration which I attached to a 3D metal cake mould tin via a cotton reel.
I glued a selection of paper flowers on top of the egg, then added flowers and painted all with chalk paint. For my first favourite technique I stamped a honeycomb design stamp from WOW!'s Hearts & Twine set with the Ultra Slow Drying clear ink pad and sprinkled with Clear Gloss embossing powder then melted with a heat tool.
Next I sprayed gold mica spray ink over to create a resist effect with the clear embossing on the surface of the egg. Into the the wet spray I added Rose Gold embossing powder onto the top of the egg and melted to give texture and contrast …

SWEET BAKER'S BOX

Hello crafty friends, Martha Lucia here to share with you a sweet bakers box that I made and decorated using the WOW Embossing Powders. Take a look at my box:

To create this box I used Crumb Cake card stock and Baker's Box Thinlits by Stampin Up. This box has a perfect size for treat like cupcakes or small presents. So I decided to create my own pattern on it. For this purpose, I used a dot stencil over the pieces of the box, I covered the free areas with the WOW Embossing Pad and then I embossed it with WOW Earthtone Olive Embossing Powder. I assemble the box and sponged the borders PowderPuff Chalk Ink Sand.
To personalize the box, I took a piece of Very Vanilla card stock and inked it with Satin Red VersaFine Ink. I embossed all the pieces with WOW Clear Gloss Embossing Powder and cut the starbrush circle using a die cut included on the Thinlits Baker's Box Collection. I obtained a very shiny red piece to add a festive touch to my box. I finalized this by adding a circle o…

Metal embossing and making faux metal

Hello my dear crafty friends!
Irit is here today with my new post for our WOW! Embossing powders Metal  monthly challenge and this time I want to show you  a few  easy and fast techniques with embossing powders over METAL. This is my Art Deco art piece made with   a lot of embossing and a lot of techniques.

And the first technique used here is a Crackled Glass technique. It's not a real tutorial, but a snap samples of different techniques, so  here it is in just a few words: Cover your cut out image(I used PWP clip art sheet) with a think layer of  VersamarkClear embossing ink and add Ultra High Clear   Gloss embossing powderover it. Heat emboss it and let it cool. Add another layer of clear embossing  ink and another layer of clear embossing powder. Third time is even better, so make it once more. Now put this glass look piece into your deep freeze section and wait for like 15 minutes. Take it off and break the " glass" with your fingers. Add some brown ink over it. You …

Wood up-cycle

Hello all,  its been a fantastic month on the blog  with all the amazing projects that have been created.  Today I am going to share two projects with you.

For the first project I got an old coaster set and painted it all in black.  After the paint was dried I applied papers to cover the sides that you would see.   I Then had lots of fun triple embossing the whole project in clear regular embossing powder to seal them.  A simple and effective way to make a cool addition to your home or  as a gift.

I made this project for my graphic 45 audition .  I used an old frame.  I applied versa mark to the entire frame and then added copper embossing powder.  I applied two coats.   Once it has set a rubbed some metallic rub around the frame to give it an aged look.

I hope you have enjoyed my share today and it has inspired you to try something new.  Keep an eye out on the blog for more amazing projects using wood and embossing powders.  Don't forget if you do create something with wood and …

Making wood grain texture over wood with Irit

Hello my dear crafty friends!
Irit is here today and this is my take of our Wood monthly challenge.
Actually I worked over wooden surface, but then I made my own wood grain texture using our fantastic WOW! Embossing powders and the result is quite interesting.
Here is my finished project: wooden wall deco that  was made with chipboards and masks only and tons of WOW! products.

This medium size wooden kitchen board was flat and with no texture, so I made  it with a wood grain stencil and textured paste. I added   Paprika, Nutmeg and Honey powders over wet textured paste and heat embossed them. Then I misted with a few Lindy's Stamp Gang brown and  golden mists and sprinkled some more embossing powders over it. As the last step I  used clear embossing ink over the raised areas and added some more powders to get this wood grain look of the background.
The chipboard shapes were painted with Gelatos and heat embossed with clear embossing powder (some of them) ; some of them were heat e…

Clean and Simple technique with colorful results

Hello my dear crafty friends!
Iritis here again and this is our Art Deco month.
Art deco - A decorative and architectural style of the period 1925-1940, characterised by geometric designs, bold colours, and the use of plastic and glass.
This article  had been published in UK Craft Stamper August 2013 issue and this is the same article here for you.
So I will show you some great technique that can make a 10 minutes artistic card.I am totally not sure it is Art Deco, but it's as close to it as  I could craft and I really wanted to share this easy technique that was  print published by me in August 2013 issue of UK Craft Stamper magazine.
This is  my own fast stamping and embossing techniques and all you need are great huge background stamps , StazOn inks and good embossing powder. That's it. Not more then 10 minutes to make am artsy card. And as WOW! Embossing Powders have those great background stamps and sure have great embossing powders, that's all you need.
So here we go…

Life is beautiful (even in 3d recycling )

Hello my dear crafty friends!
Irit is here and this time with my new recycled 3d project.

This altered project was just a wooden base with a hole that I found at home, a 10 cent kids plastic magnifying glass and a fantastic A2Z Scraplets title (it's the little things). From all of those I made  this lovely altered art piece, but it couldn't  be done without those gorgeous WOW! Embossing Powders  that  I used over it.

The wooden base was covered with Glitz paper layers . The title was inked, clear embossed with Clear  Gloss Regularembossing  powder , layer after layer to make it glossy and glass look and then I made a random stamping over it.

Wow embossing  Metallic Copper powder was  the main coverage of the plastic glass. Easy to make : just add some Watermark embossing ink randomly over it , spread the powder and heat it. Nothing happens to plastic, believe me.  Then I added some Tim Holtz Picket fence  crackled paint  over my
embossed Copper powder and  PastelBlue embossing …

Buttons in the spot light!

Hello and welcome to the WOW! UK blog!

This months theme is altered/recycled art. I decided to give some old buttons a new life by turning them into a piece of fun jewelry.

I first covered the buttons with Fab Foil using Bonding Powder. After applying the foil I heated them untill the foil started to "cook" which creates a fun texture. Watch out, cooking is ok, burning is not :)
After they cooled down I added a layer of Ultra High Clear Embossing Powder and while the embossing enamel was still hot and fluid I sprinkled in some micro beads to add more texture. Finally I added a top layer of Ultra High Clear Embossing Powder to make sure the micro beads stay in place.

I used some jewelry elastic to bind them together to a bracelet.

I think it turned out to be a fun piece and it is so light you hardly notice you're wearing it.

Materials used:
Fab Foil: Bright Gold,  TurquoiseBright Copper; Bonding Powder; Clear Ultra High Embossing Powder;

Recycle the old box to a unique gift project

Hello, my dear crafty friends! Irit is here again  and this is my totally Recycled and up cycled post.
This time a have a story to tell before I show you my project.
We live in a big 7 bedrooms house for  the last 18 years. Great home to raise your 4 kids. But then kids are already grown- ups and on their own and there left  just 2 of us and a fatty cat. So about a year and a half we decided to move to a flat. Apartment. 4 bed rooms (2 for my craft addiction). We bought this  apartment and we are still waiting as this a huge   new building  and it takes ages to finish the construction. Lately we sold our house (finally) and were told that our new place will be ready in 3-4 months. So this project is a small recycled gift to myself and my DH. I am going to put the new key inside and to give  it to my husband  when time comes and as I do all  interior design it's like my  new baby I will present to him and to our cat... (lol)

So this is my totally altered  candy box (the back  is ev…

Mother's Day Delights

Hi!! It's Sandie here today with a little WOW! Embossing inspiration for you. This month our theme is Anything Goes and you can find all the details on entering our challenge over on THIS POST
I just LOVE making cards with coordinating treat boxes. They are so easy to do and they make such a wonderful gift. We've already had Mother's Day in Ireland the UK but it appears the rest of the world will be celebrating on May 12th.

For the card I started with a pink base - sized at 105mm x 148mm. I used Victorian Velvet distress ink and the Vintage Wallpaper background stamp to create the bottom panel and I used an embossing folder for the design on the top panel. The butterfly is from the Simply Amazing clear stamp set and I've stamped it out with distress ink and heat embossed it with clear gloss powder before trimming it out with a scissors. The 'Happy Mother's Day' sentiment is from the Everyday Sentiments set

Again, I used Victorian Velvet distress ink a…

We belong together!

Hello! Birgit here bringing you some love today!

It's still february, month of love and romance and I want to share with you a simple but fun card.

To create the hearts I first made a gelli plate print, stamping into red acrylic paint using the Vintage Wallpaper stamp. This way you create a mirror image of the stamp. After die cutting the hearts with Sizzix Movers and Shapers - mini hearts set I covered them with Versamark and embossed them with 3 layers of Clear Gloss Embossing Powder.
The hearts were bound togehter with wire and adhered to the card using 3D Foam Squares.

Thank you for stopping by. Happy crafting!
Smiles, Birgit

Show A Little Love

Hello all, Donna here in little ol New Zealand.

Today's share is a project that I created for fun and thought it would be perfect to share with you all this month.  I am very lucky to have an amazing boss who lets me bring toys from work home.  I have admired this die for some time and thought it would be lots of fun to play with.

For this project I used a Versamark Ink Pad and  Clear Gloss Embossing Powder.
It is very simple.
I have inked my die cuts and then added layers of embossing powders till I got the desired effect.  In total I used  5 to 10 layers of embossing powder.
Tip:   used tweezers so you don't burn your fingers :-)

I hope you have enjoyed my share today and I will be back next month.
