DT Inspired

Hello there!

I hope this finds you all week and that you're enjoying our month CASE-ing!  I love being inspired by all of the fabulous talent in the blogosphere - and the WOW! Design Team is absolutely teeming with it, so what better place to get inspiration!?!

I have chosen a card by the wonderful Nicole Picadura.  I love Nicole's style it's fun and fresh, CAS but with a hint of freestyle collage magic - what's not to love?!!

After trawling her amazing blog, I chose this card to CASE...

Isn't it stunning?!!!

You will notice that I loved this card so much that my CASE is very literal!!!

I created my own version of Nicole's gorgeous watercolour background by dabbing Distress Inks directly onto the front of the card and then spritzing it with water.  This created nice, but unexpected, splashes over the rest of the card front.

I then stamped the words 'Live, Love and Laugh' from the Collage stamp set and heat embossed them in Opaque Bright White, Primary Ebony Su…

Decor - WOW! style...

Happy New Year to you all!

I don't think it's too far into January to say that still  :)  I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas break and that you're ready for the new year.

So here we are, an exciting new year full of WOW! challenges and products - I for one am looking forward to all the inspiration the year will bring :)

I am here with my project for this months' challenge.  Yes, I said project - NOT card!  As the theme suggests, this one is not about cards so I have stretched myself a little and created a non-card project for you all.

Here it is...

This is for a dear friend of mine who needs reminding at the moment that things aren't always bad and that you need to grab life by the horns!

I stamped the De-Vine background stamp in the centre of each panel and embossed using Super Fine Metallic Silver embossing powder.  This picks up every detail - I love it!  I then blended some inks over the top of the embossing, buffing the panels once I'd finished blending…

Mixed Media...CAS Style!

Hello there!

How is everyone?  It's the weekend - yay!  I hope you all have wonderful plans and find a little time for crafting too :)

As you probably know by now, it is Mixed Media month here at WOW! Embossing Powder.  Now, I'm not going to lie, the thought of mixed media fills me with fear so this was a true challenge!  The other girls on the team are mixed media queens and we all know I'm here for the CAS contribution!

I was surprised however, at how easily it all came together once I got going - so anyone else out there who thinks they can't 'do' the whole mixed media thing, give it a go, you may well surprise yourself :)

On to my card...

I know what you're thinking...not as 'mixed' as the other projects from the other Design Team members...I did warn you I was the CAS element of the team  :)

I started by blending the inks onto white cardstock and then attacked it with splashes of water which lifted the ink nicely.  Then I stamped the floral stamp fro…

Mixed Media with Patti

This month's theme is "Mixed Media"!!! Well, I'm not a mixed media scrapper so this totally pushed me out of my comfort level. It's not really that mixed media, but it is for me! LOL! This is a layout of our Granddaughter.
There are lots of WOW stamps and lots of texture here.

I started of with my background. I used the Collage floral and stamped randomly around the edges in pink, green and blue. Then I used the Cracked Leather and stamped with pink on the entire page. I also used a sponge dabber and used the same colors and inked the center of the page.

I made embossed, scalloped rosettes with inked edges and added pink decorative buttons. The photo mat is also embossed with an embossing folder.

I did the fern leaves with a stencil, mixed gel medium with green Gelato and mixed to keep some small pieces showing! Then cut out.

I used the Canvas stamp and made one of each of the same colors green, pink and blue and cut them out and used them on my background. I us…

My favourite things

Hello all, Nataliya is here!
I have long wondered what I love the most. But have not decided :)
So I'll tell you about a few of my favourite things:
- embossing glitter
- metallic powder
- making background
And, of course, I love butterflies :)

In this card I used a lot of WOW! EP :)
First of all, Red Metalline for the base and chipboard frame;
Vanilla White for an inscription;
Vintage Romance & Melt-It! Powder for dots;
Vintage Candy Cane to create a background;and Collage stamp for the tag.

And some tips for you, about how I made this background :)
Step1 - blots

Step2 - masking

Step3 - sprinkle the powder

Step4 - stamping

Step5 - more blots with another color

Have a good day with your favorite things :)

Favourite things...

Hello guys!

How is everyone?  Well I hope :)

I'm back to share my sample for this months' challenge - 'My Favourite'.  For this challenge I have gone with my favourite technique and the one that got me hooked on heat embossing - Emboss Resist.

This technique isn't anything fancy or difficult, but I think that''s why I love it!  You don't need any special tools (beyond a heat gun) and you can create some lovely effects.

Here is my card...

As you can see, this card is pretty simple but I love the firey colours against the stark white background - it makes me happy!  I heat embossed the De-Vine background stamp in Opaque Bright White Super Fine powder and then grabbed my inks and got smudging!

Once I'd finished applying the inks, I took a dry tissue and 'polished' the image.  This removes any/all of the excess ink from the embossing powder, allowing the bright white to shine through and accentuate the contrast.

The sentiments were also embossed in Opa…
