Favourite things...

Hello guys!

How is everyone?  Well I hope :)

I'm back to share my sample for this months' challenge - 'My Favourite'.  For this challenge I have gone with my favourite technique and the one that got me hooked on heat embossing - Emboss Resist.

This technique isn't anything fancy or difficult, but I think that''s why I love it!  You don't need any special tools (beyond a heat gun) and you can create some lovely effects.

Here is my card...

As you can see, this card is pretty simple but I love the firey colours against the stark white background - it makes me happy!  I heat embossed the De-Vine background stamp in Opaque Bright White Super Fine powder and then grabbed my inks and got smudging!

Once I'd finished applying the inks, I took a dry tissue and 'polished' the image.  This removes any/all of the excess ink from the embossing powder, allowing the bright white to shine through and accentuate the contrast.

The sentiments were also embossed in Opa…

Time Flies By!!!

With this month's theme being time, I knew that I wanted to create a page about our youngest son. He got married in March and now just found out that they are expecting on Valentine's Day!!! He's all grown up, but to me he will always be my little blue eyed boy!!!
Here is my layout!

I started out with the background page! I used two different techniques, first I used a stencil and used blue and yellow to randomly emboss the image.

Then I took a generic clock stamp and embossed several of two colors, The Gobi and Earthtone Blueberry. You can see a few close-ups here.

I took one of the gorgeous Blue Fern chippie swirls and embossed it with the Bodacious Blue powder.

I also used the Child's Play stamp set and stamped three images onto cream cardstock and cut them out, used pop dots and added them for little embellishments.

I added miscellaneous blooms and a journaling tag. The quotes are rub-ons, and I used the packaging backing for the background! I added a mesh ribbo…

Stars and Stripe Layout WOW style

Hi, this is Jenifer here with you today to share my Stars and Stripes post.  Stars and Stripes always remind me of the United States, the Flag and the 4th of July but I wanted to create a more subtle layout for my post. This is really a simple layout that packs a big punch.  I did the stars using Melt it California Sunshine, Earthtone Honey and Sierra Sunrise.I then created the stripes using a ruler and a Wow Pen and embossing powders Earthtone blueberry, Earthtone Honey and Skyline Grey.  I love how it all came together, all the colors blend perfectly.

She's All That

Hi, everybody! I hope your week is off to a great start. I have a cute birthday card for you today. The good thing about this card is that it is designed to work just as well for a male as for a female. In my opinion, it's always good to have a few unisex cards on hand for those last minute occasions. I used WOW Cable Car Red and Earthtone Blueberry, both from the Suzy West Collection of Embossing Powders. I used the red around the outer edges of the yellow background paper as well as the checked pattern on the banner. The Blueberry was used on the sentiment and I outlined it in white gel pen to make it look hand painted, sort of like graffiti, and also to make it show up really well. The stamp I used for the sentiment is from the WOW Stamp set called "Everyday Sentiments" and for the checks on the banner was from "Funky Border Strips".

I wasn't sure I was going to be crazy about the primary color scheme but after I finished it, I decided that I really like …

Lucky Me....

Happy Sunday (at least in the US) to everyone! It seems like it has been forever since I have posted for WOW! and I am super excited to finally be back on here.

Today I am going to share with you a layout I created using products from Little Yellow Bicycle, WOW! Embossing Powders, Freckle Fawn, and Tim Holtz. Since its March and that means St. Patricks Day and these pictures were taken when the family was altogether celebrating St. Patricks Day I decided to use them to create a layout for this months DT Project.

A few years back we made a deal with our kids, nieces, and nephews that if they could go the entire first year that they had their drivers license without getting any type of ticket (speeding, parking, etc) or in an accident that was their fault...at the end of that year we would give them $100. And let me tell you it was obviously a great incentive because we had to pay up with my two kids or our niece!! We still have another niece and nephew to go but we are 3 for 3 so far. Of…

Moments to share

Hello, my dear crafty friends!
Irit is here and this time with a project that maybe looks like a card, but it's not a card but an altered chipboard.  When this project was crafted I was still waiting for my new stamps and powders, so I used whatever I had and WOW- I really like the final result.

I made this altered chipboard mini tray with Tando Creative chippies and added a piece of 7 Gypsies paper to the back. Then the fun with embossing began.
First I added a  strip of double sided glue to this boat chipboard and then heat embossed it with Cotton  Candy blue powder. Then I covered this embossed strip and painted the boat with white pigmented ink and heat embossed it with a several layers of Clear Ultra High Gloss  embossing powder.
The frame was heat embossed with  Earthtone Blueberry.
The arrows - with Earthtone Nutmeg  and the compass with just a bit of Cotton Candy.
All pieces were connected to this travel tray and  some Tim Holtz stickers and a nib were the last touch.
I hope you …

A vintage swirls Hello!

Hello!  Jen Roach here and today I have a vintage inspired hello card for you using four of the Suzy West Earth tone colours from the Pantry Collection.  I've used this gradient technique several times now and I love how all the colours coordinate so that you can use them all on one project!

For this card, I stamped the brocade stamp in Versamark ink onto some white cardstock and then added one colour of embossing powder at a time before heating the whole panel at the end.

Here's a close up of the flowers and embossing.  I used a blending sponge to apply dark brown distress ink across the embossed panel. I used more ink at the edges and then kept swirling inwards.  Another advantage to using some distress inks after embossing is that it covers any of the spots that might not have been completely covered with the embossing powder (due to incomplete inking of the stamp on my part).

Altered Title by: Sesil Cratin

I always have the hardest time finding the perfect color title to match my layouts. But now I can get a set of letter stickers and alter them with WOW! Embossing Powders. Here I used the Suzy West Earthtone Blueberry Regular to alter the chipboard letters to make the PERFECT Title!

How About a WOW Guy Page?!?!

Hi! Patti here, and I'm going to share a boy page today!!! I know, I usually do girly pages, but I have two boys as well!! They're just camera shy. Seriously they run from the camera, but they have grown up with it!

I've used the Suzy West Pantry collection powders for this page. I started off by inking some small bubble wrap and embossing the background paper with the Earthtone Blueberry.

I used the Earthtone Honey and Paprika on the title letters. And I added the Earthtone Nutmeg on the gears. I also used more of the Earthtone Blueberry on two of the gears as well.

Here is another close-up of the gears. I used a piece of burlap behind them as a border.

Here is one last close-up, you can see the title letters an the gears. I love how these colors matched the Bo-Bunny paper here. They were absolutely perfect!

I have used a lot of embossing powder, and I really do love how the WOW powders turn out, the colors are  so vibrant, and the coverage is superior. I hope you check them o…

Patriotic Summer Decor

Few things conjure up thoughts and memories of summer then 4th of July, don't you agree? I love 4th of July festive colors and indoor/outdoor decor but don't have much of it. I created this little plaque to start my own collection of 4th of July decor.

I started with a plain piece of wood and covered it with some paper from Authentique Paper's Genuine line.

I then added to the background using the hearts from the stamp set called Gratitude and embossed them with Metallic Platinum Sparkle.

All the butterflies are from the wonderfully fun set called Build a Butterfly.

Each butterfly and coordinating smaller butterflies are embossed in the following 3 powders: Cable Car Red, Earthtone Blueberry & Neutral Ultra Shimmer.

I love the way this turned out...what do you think?

Do you like to make things for the holidays? What have you got planned for the summer? I just hope to get through the day without melting!! I hope you have enjoyed today's post. This has been Jeannie from The Polka…

A sweet photo holder with some WOW!

Hello!  Jen Roach here and today I have a little altered photo holder to share with you.  I recently attended a scrapbooking convention here in Ontario and I picked up a project kit for this great little spool photo holder.  Of course, I had to add some WOW! to jazz it up a bit.

I stamped the background file folder cardstock with the WOW! Brocade stamp and then embossed with West By the Bay Collection -  Tea Garden Green (SWWH03).  I also stamped the blue cardstock with the Brocade stamp and embossed with Suzy West Pantry Collection - Blueberry (SWWJ06).

I added a few rolled rose felt flowers with pearl centers near my photo.
As you can see adding the heat embossing to the background adds so much shine to your project.  It's a bit difficult to see but I used KI Memories stickers for the sweet heart sentiment and covered them with some pearl paint to add even more dimension.
I also used the Brocade stamp and Suzy West Pantry Collection - Blueberry (SWWJ06) on the kraft paper for the b…

Scrapbooking with a WOW Factor!

Hi everyone! Amy Prior here today to share with you all some fabulous recent layouts that I have created using WOW Embossing Powders and Stamp Sets. These fabulous products have such an amazing array of uses in Scrapbooking and I hope my layouts below will show you new ways of using your Embossing Powders in Scrapbooking Layouts.
The first layout I have to share today is of some sky high photos I recently took on my plane trip across the beautiful Australian Country side. For this first layout, I have used the Songbird Collection from Prima Marketing which I have teamed up with some fabulous Lace, Twine & Cheesecloth.
This embossed effect on the background was created using the Crafters Workshop Template Tile Texture 12x12 and WOW Embossing Powder White Opaque.

These gorgeous Chipboard birds from A2Z Scraplets got a coat of subtle Crackle Paint followed by some random ink splattering. To top off these beauties, I have added subtle bits of White Opaque WOW Embossing Powder. I just ad…
