You are amazing! - a thank you card by Riikka

Hello again! It's Riikka here with a second post for today! Surprise! Even though Thanksgiving is in November, end of the year also means counting your blessings. I'm grateful for many things and one of them is being a part of the great WOW! team. Another is the awesome collaborations we share with different brands. And another still is all blog readers, Instagram followers and YouTube watchers that see the crafts the WOW! team, and I as a small part of it, make. So, I made a little happy card using stamps from Julie Hickey Designs stamps, as we had a collaboration during 2019 in the form of an Instagram hop. Thank you for the possibility to be a part of it, WOW! and Julie Hickey!
I used two sets in the make, making a layered bunch of flowers on top of a background of silver. The background is done using Fab Foil and paper glue, whereas the flowers and leaves are embossed using Blue Topaz and then colored using markers. The greeting is from the other stamp set and done using O…

The dramatic air of a monolith - a canvas by Riikka

Moikka again! It's Riikka here today to share my second monthly project. But shhh, you might be in for an extra treat today! So stop by later in the evening as well! Just a hint.

While I made a pair of cards with white base for my first project, I made a baroque influenced black and gold canvas as my second. While the gold is similar to the other card, the background color totally changes the mood again. My main inspiration for this was the resin frame, which I wanted to turn into an old mirror.
I started creating the canvas from the background. I painted the canvas with black gesso, dried it and then patterned it with golden embossing powder and a couple of stencils. Then I cut a piece of double-sided adhesive a bit larger than the opening of the frame. I adhered to the adhesive to the canvas and added Fab Foils on top. I started with golden one I had used for the cards so there was some of it used when I then pulled that away, there were still openings in the adhesive. On those,…

Silver and Gold - a pair of cards by Riikka

Hello there! Can you believe it's already December and soon a new year starts? This year has gone by so fast! A lot of great experiences and fun crafts along the course of the year! To celebrate the change of the year, I created a pair of cards. The other one of the pair is done using silver tones and the other using gold. Can you see how much the color effects the mood?

When thinking of new year and especially the change of the year, the first thing that came to my head was fireworks! So I wanted my cards to be shiny and speckled with glitter! I used Fab Foils for the first layer and then added embossing powder on top using "Go Figure" stamp. I thought that number theme went well with the change of the year theme. I also used the Freehand tool to doodle some rings around the focal point, embossed a couple of die cut snowflakes and added glitter splashes using Sparkles.
If you want to see how the cards were made, please see the video below!

Be true - a journal cover by Riikka Kovasin

"This above all: to thine own self be true" - William Shakespeare, Hamlet
It's Riikka here today to share another embellishment project with you. My first one was a clean layout and this second one is totally different. It goes to show that embossing powders are really versatile and can be used to create all sorts of embellishments!
I started the project by making the background. I painted the cover first with black gesso. Then I wanted a pattern in there. For that I used one of the powders from the "Confetti" trio with a circle stencil and created that golden pattern in the background. Then I sprayed the project lightly with water and sprinkled flame colored powders on top. Water will keep the powders put long enough for you to heat them. There's also a touch of metallic acrylic paint in there. Then it was embellishing time!

For this cover I mainly used Melt-It products to create the embellishments. For the lady in the center I used mainly "Bright …
