VIDEO: Sparkly-licious Cards with Erica

Hi guys!

It's Erica here and I have a couple of totally off the charts sparkly cards for you today! I've used two of the new trios, Toteally Awesome and Summer Scoops, and they work so great together. There is also a video on the YouTube channel

My first card is a no-stamping card, if you discount the stamping with the Embossing Pad of course. I used a cover plate from The Stamp Market called Color Block 1, and I have cut it out of white card stock. As it cuts out eight pieces I picked out four colours of the embossing powders, and did two pieces in each colour.

A lot of puzzling and glueing later, my background was finished!

To finish off this card I diecut out a sentiment that says 'thinking of you' four times out of white card stock. These I layered up and then on top of these I heat embossed White Twinkle to make them pop and sparkle even more, because clearly it wasn't sparkly enough.

The second card is done with the Painted Dots Turnabout stamp from Concord & 9th. I used an anti-static tool all over a piece of card stock first, and then with the help of a Turnabout Jig and the MISTI, I stamped each part of the stamp with the Embossing Pad and with each turn I added the embossing powder of choice. I did not heat emboss in between each stamping.

After heat setting the panel with the heat tool, I also stamped up a 'Happy' from All The Birthdays stamp set on a new piece of card stock and used Razzleberry for this. It wasn't as pink as I wanted so I did it again, and then heat embossed a top coat of Clear Gloss

I stamped up 'birthday' in black on white card stock and trimmed it down to a very slim banner, and with all those pieces done, it was quick work to put the card together!

Well, that's it from me for today, but I hope you like the cards and the new trios!

Lots of love and happy crafting from Erica

She's over on our YouTube Channel showing you how!

Jenny created her project by heat embossing an A2 panel of white cardstock and black cardstock, by inking up the entire panel with WOW! embossing ink,  then coating the black with Gilded.   On the white. panel, she coated half the panel in Iced Teal, and the other half with the Real Teal.

Jenny die cut the teal panel with an Altenew Stacked Diamond coverplate.   By using an intricate die, this camouflages the blend line on the panel, then glued it to panel of black. cardstock and popped it onto a notecard.   The Gilded panel was die cut withe Pinkfresh Studio's Ornate Oval, and then two more times from 110lb white cardstock,  before glueing them together.  Add acetate to the back, then a double layer of thin foam tape to create a shaker window.

To add the shaker crystals (these are from Pinkfresh Studio) pour them into the centre of the card then pop the window over the top. The sentiment is by Penguin Palace and was die-cut from silver glitter cardstock and mounted on the window with foam squares.

VIDEO: How To Make WOW! Changers Snow

Learn how to make WOW! Changers snow embossing powder. There are lots of specialty powders that puff up and are perfect for snow, but I don't have so I made an alternative.

All the details to create these easy watercolor backgrounds and WOW! Changers snow is in this short cardmaking video tutorial. Watch it here or in HD on YouTube. While you're there I'd love it if you like, subscribe, and share it with your crafty friends!

Winter Watercolor Backgrounds

Before I get to WOW! Changers snowmaking, let me share these easy watercolor backgrounds. They're quick and easy. Grab your favorite watercolor paper. Mine is Saunders Waterford High White Cold Press paper.

Cut it to A2 size, 4.25 x 5.5-inches, and die-cut a scrap with a round rectangle die of your choosing. Wet the A2 size paper with clean water and paint wet on wet stripes with four different blue pigments.

Here I used Daniel Smith Watercolor Phthalo Blue Green Shade, Ultramarine, Mayan Blue Genuine, and Indigo.

While the paint is still wet, splatter on leftover paint from your palette with a watery brush. This will create diffuse snow-like marks in the background.

Ink smoosh the smaller die-cut panel with the leftover ink. Create as many panels as you desire with the remaining paint. Allow the panels to fully dry.

How To Make WOW! Changers Snow

If you have WOW! White Puff powder, that would create excellent fluffy snow. However, I don't have it in my stash, so I decided to make an alternative. I wanted my snow to be opaque and have sparkly glitter.

Simply mix equal parts WOW! Opaque Bright White with WOW! Changers Glisten to create the perfect opaque white glitter powder. Make sure your panels are completely dry before embossing your DIY snow.

Next, wet a large round brush. A #10 or #12 round brush is recommended to create large splats of snow. Splatter your panels with large drops of clean clear water.

Sprinkle with your DIY snow mixture and melt with your heat tool. I recommend melting the embossing powder from underneath the cardstock to prevent blowing away all that gorgeous glitter. Voila!

Winter Cards

To finish these winter cards, I used Altenew Hello Winter Stamp & Die Set. The white Winter sentiments are cut from Neenah Classic Crest Solar White and heat embossed with the DIY snow mixture.

The Winter shadow sentiments are die-cut from Curious Metallic Electric Blue cardstock. The sub-sentiments are stamped in Altenew Obsidian Pigment Ink.

The rounded rectangle panel is grounded with three strips of Curious Metallic Electric Blue cardstock. I added a few Pretty Pink Posh Marshmallow sequins and called it done!

That's all there is to creating simple winter wonderland cards with your own DIY snow embossing powder. Thanks so much for joining me and I'll see you soon with more inspiration! Happy crafting!
