VIDEO: Sparkle And Shine Cards with Erica

 Hi guys!

I'm going to do my best to make sure everything goes live when it supposed to today. My last blog post went up when it was supposed to, but the video on the other hand did not. My apologies for that. Sometimes I think I have technology somewhat figured out and then it turns on its head and I realise, yet again, that I have absolutely zero clue... Oy. There is a video for these cards on the WOW! YouTube channel too. I will make sure it does go live at the correct time, even if it means getting up very early on a Sunday.

Right, it's yet another new month and in October we want to see you guys add Sparkle And Shine to your cards for our Facebook challenge! It's almost too good to be true, isn't it? Embossing powders and glitters are PERFECT for this. There are some new trios out and I have used two of them for this one card: Toteally Amazing and Summer Scoops. The colours are delicious!

I have also used some new to me goodies from Pink Fresh Studios: Color Block Stripes cover plate and the Stand Alone Cuts Phrase builder: You. When it comes to cardmaking I have three serious loves: rainbows, heat embossing and diecutting. For these cards I have combined all three!

I started out by making lots of fun and colourful backgrounds with the Color Block Stripes Cover Plate and the Assorted Card Stock bundle from Concord & 9th. I did my usual thing and went WAY overboard but I had such a fun time, why stop, right?

The sentiments are done by cutting out both the word and the shadow bit of the various ones available in the Phrase Builder set. All are done in white card stock. For the first card, I simply dabbed my Embossing Pad on the word, which I had on a sheet of acetate, then sprinkled Lemon Sorbet, Orangeade and Razzleberry respectively on each. I did each colour twice to make it really opaque and as glittery as possible. Each one was then adhered to the shadow bit and then to the card.

For the second card I tried something slightly differently, and used Distress Oxide inks in Squeezed Lemonade, Peacock Feathers and Salty Ocean on the words before then dabbing the Embossing Pad on it and sprinkling the embossing glitters on them.

I like how they both turned out, and will use both techniques again for sure.

Once the sentiments were adhered to the cards, they were done. No stamping at all, minus the colour adding! What do you think?

Lots of colour and sparkle but no colouring, perfect for those who don’t feel so confident with their colouring skills. A card certainly doesn’t have to be boring just because there is no colouring on it, especially when you have loads of fun sparkly embossing powders and glitters to choose from!

Don’t forget to enter your creations in the October photo album in the Facebook WOW! Fan group for your chance to win a $15 gift voucher to the WOW! Store!

Lots of love and happy crafting from Erica

  1. I love the stripes within this die cut frame in a myriad of colours Erica, and the die cut sentiments with a touch of sparkle look great over the top. x
