VIDEO: Watercolor Emboss Resist on Dark Backgrounds with Jenny Colacicco

Hi Everyone!

My recent card featuring watercoloring against a dark background for the February Theme Challenge seemed to have been very popular! As a result, I've created two more cards featuring this technique (I first saw Yana Smakula use this technique, you can see her post here).

My cards feature the Glintz powders.  I created a video of the process which you can check out here or over on the WOW! Embossing channel.

I heat embossed this heart image - All My Love from Concord & 9th in Rose Glintz, on hot press watercolor cardstock.  I then watercolored the image using Altenew Watercolor Brush Markers.  These are great for smaller areas, and I just drew a line of color using the brush marker directly on the cardstock and then pulled it out with a waterbrush. When done, I went all around the edges and in the central pieces with the Desert Night brush marker which is a dark navy blue. I then fussy cut it out.   As I was doing this on watercolor cardstock, I also edged with my …

Watercolour Anemones with Gemma

Today I have a floral card to share, using the beautiful WOW Mayan Glintz embossing powder.

I stamped the images from the Pretty Pink Posh Anemones stamp set onto Bristol Smooth card with the WOW embossing ink. I then embossed them with WOW Mayan Glintz embossing powder. This embossing powder is so pretty, I couldn’t stop looking at the embossed flowers and leaves.

I used some Zig clean colour real brush pens in 230 pale rose, 220 tea rose, with a water brush, to colour in some of the images.

On a card base, I added a border of MFT black and white striped patterned paper. I then arranged my flowers on the card base, adhering them with liquid glue and foam squares.

I stamped a sentiment from the Altenew Birthday Builder stamp set at the top, then finished with some Pretty Pink Posh ivory jewels.

Have a lovely day, Gemma
