Metallic "Hello" cards by Riikka

Moikka! It's Riikka here today. I know you are going to be surprised by the project I created this time. Not only I made a minimalist card but with a video! Please let me know if you prefer the step by step styled tutorials or video form. I don't promise anything, but will then do my best to make more of those tutorials!

I wanted to keep things a bit simpler this time with the metallic theme. Naturally I could have created something like the canvas I did back in October last year (link), but I had this idea of painted glass windows I wanted to try out. I used a transparency as my base and started layering different powders on top. The key element is the transparency - it needs to cope with warmth so something meant for laser printing is ideal.
By using a stylized stamp and black embossing powder as the first medium and then delicately filling in the design with colored powders you could create something like the famous Rose Window of Notre Dame. And if you only use translucen…

White Out Resist Background by Susanne

Hi my dear crafty friends.

Susanne here today. A while ago I watched a video by Marion Emberson on the WOW! YouTube channel and I loved what she did. I've never heard about an embossing resist technique with acrylic paint. But it works perfectly and if you use white paint you'll get a wonderful shabby chic look.

Enjoy the video!

Here are some close-ups and detail information:

I used a heart die from Die-Namites and covered it completely with WOW! Perissa powder. The little black heart is embossed with Black Glint powder. The stamp is from the Layered Hearts stamp set. I used the tiny stamps to add a little bit more interest on my old book paper.

This super sparkly heart is cut from a piece of cardstock where I added double sided tape before cutting. I used Fab Foil Gold scraps and the brand new WOW! Sparkles Celebration on the sticky side.

Thank you for stopping by today!
xx Susanne

Tutorial - Oriental mixed media card

Hello!
Victoria is on the blog today. Is your July warm and sunny? Have you gone on vacation already? I am dreaming of a journey to Oriental countries. The chic and vibrant colors of Oriental art inspired me to create this card for our July challenge "Favourite Embossing Technique" (I used two - resist effect and embossing on texture paste).
You can see video tutorial from start to finish below.

See few close ups if you want to have a closer look at the card.

Emboss Resist Watercolor Hello Card

Hello! Nicole here to share the very last project for the year of 2014 with you all- Where did 2014 go?? I can't believe in just couple of days we are going to be saying "hello" to the year of 2015. As a last project here on WOW! blog, I wanted to shake things up a bit and introduce a very colorful card. We've seen lots of holiday projects during the past couple of month so I thought this would be a nice break for you guys. And, who can say no to a colorful, bright, new card, right?

I chose a big butterfly stamp set from my stash and decided to use it as the main part of the card. It has lots of details and I thought the Bright White Super Fine Embossing Powder would work perfectly together. It looks really complicated, but oh it is so simple! Check out the video tutorial above to see how this card comes together.

I love using the Bright White Super Fine Embossing Powder since it catches all and any details of an stamped image. I highly recommend investing in it, …

Embossed Ornaments Christmas Card

Happy Wednesday! Nicole here with a fun card to share with you today. I wanted to create a very feminine and classic Christmas card using the ombre background technique. There is also a video tutorial below to make sure to check it out - you can see how the card comes together in person.
I used an ornament stamp set to create today's project. Embossing powders can really pop out those solid images and grab anyone's attention well. I stamped two ornaments onto the cardstock and heat embossed it using some Gold Rich Regular embossing powder.
Few colors of pigment ink pads were used to create this background - I used light pink, bright pink, light purple, dark purple, and a dark gray color to create this ombre look. It really helps those heat embossed ornaments to stand out nicely. Don't you just love the contrast?

I also heat embossed a scrap white cardstock using the same Gold Rich embossing powder. Those were cut into 1/2" strips and added to the side of the cardbas…

VIDEO: WOW! Embossing Powder Properties & Organization

Hello! Nicole here and today I have a video that shares something fun and different than my usual videos. If you have been following me on my blog or on my instagram, you know that me and my hubby recently moved into a new house and were busy unpacking and settling in. As I set up and organized my new crafting studio, I decided to organize my supplies better as well.
So, today I am sharing how I store and organize all of my embossing powders from WOW!. Also, I will be going over some different properties that WOW! embossing powdershave and hopefully you will learn more about them and choose the best ones that fit your crafting needs. (honestly, I can't not have enough of them!)
If you are interested in any of my embossing powder labeling system, please go to my blog for direct links to download them. My system was inspired by Jennifer Mcguire's organization system.

1 Background Layer, 2 Cards

Hi! Nicole here and I am back with a brand new tutorial share - creating 2 cards from a 1 cardstock piece. This month theme is "garden" - when I think of flowers, I usually think of weddings. And weddings means lots of shimmer. So even though my inspiration started from our monthly theme, my results were totally different. :)

I wanted to show off an awesome embossed background layer and decided to maximize my paper and create 2 cards. This is super easy, anyone can do it! Check out the video tutorial below to see how these cards come to life.

First card I am sharing is perfect for wedding, anniversary, golden/silver birthdays, or any occasions that call for elegant looks. Simply changed the sentiment that goes in the circle part of the card and you are good to go! I wanted a subtle, shimmer background for my cards today, so I chose one of my favorite WOW embossing powers - Metallic Platinum. It has a nice combination of gold and silver and I thought it would go really well …
