White on white - a sparkling card by Riikka

Heippa everyone! It's Riikka here today with a sparkling Christmas card. Well, you can so this kind of card otherwise, too, but I was thinking about snow and ice when I crafted this card.

I enjoy all the seasons and have said frequently that I wouldn't cope without the drastic change of the seasons we experience here in Finland. During the summer time the sun doesn't set at all but naturally this means that during winter the sun doesn't rise at all. Even though I love the bright summer nights and the warmth then, my favorite season is winter. Unfortunately nowadays usually the winter isn't the kind I love - with snow and chilly temperatures, but more often slush and rain. But this card reminds me of those icy, chilly winters I love. Glistening snow and frost like diamonds!

I used a few different glistening and sparkling products in my make. There's foil, embossing glitter and Sparkles, too. If you want to know, how I made the card, please see the step by step below!

Step 1. Start by adding some foil to your background. Instead of ink and Bonding Powder, take a paper glue or a planner glue pen and randomly apply that to your card base. Then add the foil on top. The effect is a bit weathered, random surface that glimmers.

Step 2. Add some frost to the piece by adding stamping. Fist stamp the floral pattern using "Tropical" stamp and the Embossing Ink and then apply "Cloud 9" embossing glitter on top. Melt using the heat tool.

Step 3. More texture to the mix - snowy hills and frost like lace. First apply a strip of lace to the center of the card. Secure the ends to the back. Then use a dot patterned stencil and apply Light Paste through it. While the paste is still wet, add "White Pearl" on top. Use a heat tool to melt the powder and "boil" the paste at the same time. You get a snow kind of puffy dots.

Step 4. Embellish the card using die cuts and flowers. Layer the die cuts to the bottom and add the flowers on top. Use different sizes of flowers to make the composition. Adhere the embellishments securely with glue.

Step 5. Bling it on! Use a soft brush and add Soft Gloss Gel to the card around the flowers and the die cuts. Then sprinkle the Sparkles on top. Use different glitters for more impact and also choose different grain sizes.

Step 6. Use the "Buttons" silicone mold and make some buttons to be used as embellishments. Mix "Bright White" with Melt-It powder. If you need instructions how to use Melt-It and molds, please visit here (link). Adhere the buttons using glue.

Step 7. Finish the card by mounting it to a piece of patterned paper. You can effect the atmosphere of the card with the choice of the paper. Trim the paper a bit bigger than your card and adhere in place.

There's the card ready! A lot of sparkle and glimmer, but so it needs to be for Christmas and winter. Just by altering colors of the powders and embellishments you can fit the card to different seasons.

Thank you for your visit! I hope I have inspired you today!

xoxo Riikka

Be Merry & Bright

Hello craft friends I hope you’re all well and looking forward to the festive season. It’s always nice to squeeze in another Christmas creation and I really enjoyed making this bauble card for this month’s DT inspiration.

I started by die-cutting a circle of white card which I then stamped a sentiment on and used the Wall Art Stamp around the edges. I inked over the stamped areas then embossed the card with Regular Clear Gloss embossing powder. While the powder was still warm I sprinkled Your Carriage Awaits Sparkles over the stamped areas then heated again with the heat tool.

I die-cut the reindeer and triple embossed them with two layers of Champers Embossing Powder and a light dusting of Metallic Gold Rich.

I then die-cut stars, stamped with the Starburst stamp then embossed with White Pearl Embossing Powder. I then sprinkled Bridal Sparkles on top while it was still warm and melted again with a heat tool.

After layering up all the elements I added some gems and dome stickers for extra sparkle and finished with a bow. I hope you like it!

Good luck with the challenge,

WOW: Christmas Sparkle Tags

Hi Everyone Jo here and welcome to to today's fun tag creations playing with the fabulous Sparkle collection from WOW. With Christmas coming up my family loves to give gifts to the people that have touch our lives in so many ways.  I had so much fun playing with this glitter collection.

To make these tags I have used the MFT tag builder blueprints 2 die set. Die cut using the Christmas Tree & Candy Cane dies in the center of each tags. Place a wide red line double sided tape and behind each die cut shape. From the front I sprinkled and burnished with my fingers the glitter collection. This die cut also has tag toppers to add an extra layer and element to tags.

TIP: Place a scrap piece of paper behind each time you do the glitters to capture the left overs to funnel back in the jars.

My cardstock of choice is  Kraft & thick white card bases. To add a bit of pattern I have also used the MFT Birthday Blowout 6 x 6 Paper Pack.

For the sentiments I chose from the Wplus9 Hand Lettered Holiday& Lawn Fawn Cheery Christmas stampsets and stamped on strips of white & Kraft cardstock and kept if rather simple.

To finish these all off I have resurfaced some of my ribbon collection from my hoard vault all which have a Christmas colour feel to them.

I have created a You Tube video on how I made these fun tag collection.

Hope you enjoyed today's creations and would love to see your comments over in You Tube :)

Christmas Card

Hello this is Laurence (laury55) today with a Christmas card. We still have some time until Christmas but we are all very busy in December and preparing your cards in advance will reduce your stress later. My Christmas card is quite simple and may be easily duplicated

1) I covered a scrap of paper with WOW metallic gold powder, heat embossed and used dies for the letters.

2) I cut 2 triangles for the trees, the second one is covered with adhesive. I applied WOW Oceanic Embossing on the first one and WOW Santorini sparkles on the second one.

3) I stamped directly on my background paper and heat embossed with WOW gold rich sparkle powder.

Thank you for your visit. I hope you will join our current challenge.

Merry Christmas - Watercolour Card by Susanne

Hi my dear crafty friends!

I have a Christmas card with you to share! It's never too early to start, so you don't have to hurry in December. This card is really easy to recreate and it can be made with nearly every kind of stamp for any occasion.

I started by stamping a pattern with one of the leaves from the "Flights of Fancy" stamp set. I embossed it with Gold Rich Powder. I did the same to a piece of vellum.

I coloured some of the leaves with my Gansai Tambi watercolours. But any kind of watercolour will work for this resist technique.

I cut a "Merry Christmas" from cardstock which was covered with double sided tape. This is an easy way to foil your die cuts! Just expose the sticky side and press the foil onto it. Rub it gently with your fingers. I used WOW! Fab Foil Gold.

Finally I build up my card. I cut the background with a stitched frame die, added some gold splatters (Aztec Metallics from ColourCraft) and adhered it to the card base. The vellum is cut down to a nice size to blend the sentiment banner with the background. To let the "Merry Christmas" pop out even more, I layered it on top a black die cut. I added some wooden stars for a little more interest.

Thank you for stopping by today!
Have a nice and crafty week.
xx Susanne.

When it comes to Christmas cards I'm always the last one scrabbling around in my studio quickly making, I do this every year, why do I do this, I have no idea, it's not like they change the date each year !!!

Anyhoo's to me and for the above reason, Christmas cards have to be quick, simple and effective. So here's my QS&E Christmas Card. This is a card design I've done for years, it never fails and it's so easy !!
I've used two different stamp sets, one that's nothing to do with Christmas, but it just goes to show that with a little Sparkle we can turn a Starburst into a snowflake !!! Did you see what i did there… the stamps is called Starburst LOL !!!

I cut my base card and folded it tent wise, then cut two more pieces of card .5cm smaller than the base and then again .5cms smaller than the other.

Stamp and emboss the 'Merry & Bright' from the Thankful stamp set, I used Mint Macaroon (one of my fav's) I then stamped and embossed three small starbursts from the Starburst stamp set, again embossing in Mint Macaroon.
Using the middle piece of card go around all the edges with the ink pad and cover in Mint Macaroon, heat set. this will give you a perfectly matching border. This can be mounted to the base card.

Using a quickie glue pen dot the centre of the Starburst and draw lines out from it, I also added little dots around the Starbursts then sprinkled with A Girl's Best Friend Sparkles. Mount onto the base card. After doing this I decided I wanted the 'dot' in the centre to be bigger so I used Glossy Accents and sprinkled with the Sparkles.

There you have it, Quick, Simple and Effective !!! Now to make another 40 :) :)
I can't wait to see what you and the DT come up with.
