VIDEO Stellar Birthday

Hello crafty friends! Lien here with another birthday card using the fabulous WOW embossing powders. If you want to see the process of making this card, including the coloring session I hope you check out the video below!

For this card I started out by stamping some of the images from the Moon Men stamp set by Reverse Confetti in Memento Tuxedo Black ink onto Clairefontaine DCP 250 gsm cardstock. This is an alcohol marker friendly ink, however I love my black embossed outlines, so I leave the stamps in the same spot in my Misti while I color in the images. Once these are colored in I can put the paper back in the same corner of my Misti and stamp again in Versafine Onyx Black ink and emboss with WOW Clear Gloss Super Fine embossing powder. I do this extra step because embossing powder and alcohol markers don't mix, it's very bad for your markers to color over embossed lines.

For my background I colored a white piece of paper with an ink cube. Just swiped it straight over the paper, you can start with colored cardstock of course! I also cover the panel with WOW Ultra Slow Drying Clear Embossing ink. I use an ink blending tool for this so the blue ink doesn't transfer to my ink pad. Then I can add the Midnight embossing powder from the Moonlight trio and watch the magic happen as I melt it with the Dual Speed Heat Tool by WOW.

I die cut a banner from this with the Slimline Banner dies by Pinkfresh Studio and arrange this on my card (without adhering it down yet!) to see where to stamp my sentiment. I stamp that in Versafine Onyx Black and emboss it with WOW Clear Gloss embossing powder. Then I can adhere the galaxy banner onto my cardbase with foam tape. I prop all the images up on pieces of foam tape as well to give them some lovely dimension and to finish it off I added some silver gems from Pretty Pink Posh between my images.

Embossing Backgrounds and Die Cuts

Hello there, Carrie Rhoades here. I am super excited to be guest designing with WOW! this month. And I have to say that I have been truly WOWed with the two new trios of embossing powder that I got to play with. Today I will be sharing one of them with you, the Pastel Gemstones. I am going to be using them on die cut words. It not only takes these die cuts up a notch but up to a whole new level!

I love all three of the powders in this trio so I decided to make three cards!  You can see them all come together in THIS VIDEO.

For each background on each card I did a different emboss resist technique using the Hexagon Stamp and clear embossing powder. And each card using a different powder from the Pastel Gemstones trio. Let's take a closer look at each.
All the cards today have the Hexagon background stamp inked up with the WOW Embossing Pad and then embossed with the Clear Gloss Embossing Powder. The resist technique I used for this card is watercolor. Salvaged Patina Distress Oxide ink was the perfect watercolor medium to go with the Blue Aventurine embossing powder. I just watered some of the ink down and brushed it over the embossed panel.

Here you can see the beautiful embossed die cut. I pressed the die cuts into the Embossing Pad and then sprinkled powder over the entire piece, finishing it off my melting the powder with the WOW Heat Tool. But to make it really stand out, I repeated this process and embossed the die cut twice. The results are just stunning!

The emboss resist technique I used for this card is to SPRAY over it. The spray for this card... Worn Lipstick Distress Oxide ink. What a gorgeous result. And a bit of splatter to finish off the splattery look.

The Rose Quartz powder is gorgeous on this Celebrate die cut!

On my last card I did some old fashioned ink blending with Mustard Seed Distress Oxide ink. Keeping the ink dark and heavy at the top and fading it out towards the bottom. And again splattering over it for a more interesting look.

I did mix it up a bit on this die cut. As the Lemon Amber powder is a very light yellow I chose to die cut my "hello" from yellow card stock. I found that this was a great way to get more uses out of my embossing powder and I LOVE the result.

These powders are so amazing, I love how the gold flecks are suspended in the colored powder, it really is a WOW!!!

Below you will find all the supplies I used to make these cards RIGHT HERE.
Thank you so much for stopping by!

Technique Tuesday: Alcohol Inks and WOW! Fab Foils/Foilers

Hello, it's Verity with another video and blog post as a Creative team member for WOW!  Alcohol inks are a beautiful medium to work with. They create vivid bright designs whether you create a background or use it for more focal images. Today I'm showing how to use alcohol inks with foiled designs using the fabulous WOW! Fab Foilers Sweet Sentiments set. Whether you keep it simple with just a few sentiments or add a vellum overlay, this technique will blow you away!

Alcohol Inks and WOW! Fab Foils/Foilers video Tutorial:

Alcohol Inks and WOW! Fab Foils/Foilers written Tutorial:

Start off with a piece of Yupo Paper - no need to trim this down to a card size until we have added the ink. Add some blending solution over the top and start adding in colour with alcohol inks.

Here I have used Indigo, Wild Plum and Stream. Using a puffer, move the ink around, allowing the colours to blend with one another. Keep adding ink until you are happy with the look.

Allow the panel to dry, but just before the whole panel is dry we need to add some foil design. Where the alcohol ink pools it will take longer to dry and this will appear tacky. Cover this with WOW! Gold Fab foil to transfer the foil and create metallic veins in the background.

To finish the card, foil a sheet of sentiments from the WOW! Fab Foiler Sweet Sentiments set in WOW! Gold Fab Foil. Trim these down and add them to the card front along with some gold matte sequins.

This second uses vellum to create the alcohol ink panel and then used this as an overlay. Again, add Indigo, Stream and Wild Pulm Alcohol inks to the vellum along with blending solution. Before the panel has fully dried, add WOW! Gold Fab Foil to the tacky areas of ink.

Create the background panel by foiling with WOW! Gold Fab Foil one of the background panels from the WOW! Fab Foilers Sweet Sentiments set. Trim the vellum panel down and hide small amounts of double-sided adhesive tape behind dark areas of alcohol ink.

Finish this card off by adding a few more foiled sentiments from the WOW! Fab Foilers Sweet Sentiments set along with matte gold sequins.

Simple Watercolor Birthday Cards

Hello everyone! Lien here from Studio Kato, back again with another video and blogpost for WOW! Today I got out my watercolors after a good long while of not really using them and I had so much fun with it.

For this set of cards I just wanted to pair some of my favorite embossing powders with watercolors. I stamped and painted in the backgrounds and added some sentiments. Easy birthday cards in colors and patterns that would work well for any recipient.

For the blue card I used the Hexagon stamp by WOW, stamped it in WOW Ultra Slow Drying embossing ink and used the Vintage Peacock embossing powder for it. I heatset it, die cut it with one of the Double Stitched Rectangle dies by The Ton and colored it in with watercolors.

I propped it up on a piece of cardboard for extra dimension and added a die cut sentiment from the Happiest Hellos by The Stamp Market + a sub sentiment from the Inside Birthday Sentiments stamp set by Honey Bee Stamps.

For my second card, I stamped a pattern on some watercolor cardstock using the Tropical Leaves stamp set by Reverse Confetti. I used the Royal Emerald embossing powder by WOW and heatset it. This one I die cut a little larger with the Double Stitched Staxx Dies by My Favorite Things.

I also gave this one some extra dimension with a piece of cardboard. The sentiment die I used here is from Reverse Confetti and belongs in the Hooray and Cheers Word Duo Die set. I used another subsentiment from the Honey Bee Stamps stamp set and finished both cards with the matt pearls in gold and silver from Pinkfresh Studio.

You can check out the video right here if you're interested.
