Metallic Mania!

Hi!  Jen Matott here to share a little altered project that I did with a wooden pencil box, WOW Metallics and some silicone molds!   I painted the box and lid with black craft paint and let dry first.

Then, I grabbed my Prima gears stencil and applied Helmar Crackle Adhesive Step 1 with a foam brush by dabbing.  After it dries, it remains sticky. That is important because you need the embossing powders to stick! I started with the Metallic Gold regular WOW Embossing powders and then used the Metallic Copper regular over it to create a swirl of metallics. They stick to the adhesive and heat up to create a gorgeous surface!

I did all four sides like that on the outside of the box. I decided that I wanted to embellish the lid with flowers and other metal pieces.  Using my Melt It pot, I added some of the WOW  Metallic Silver Ultra thick embossing powder and allowed it to melt completely.

I used Martha Stewart's silicon flower and butterfly molds.   I poured the hot, melted powders into the molds and waited for them to harden.  Once they were cooled, I popped them out and used them in my project!

Here you can see them added to the lid. I used Helmar 450 Quick Dry Adhesive to glue them to the wooden lid. I also added metal pieces, paper flowers from Prima and leaves  to fill the space in a pleasing manner.

finally I added bling swirls and metal embellishments to finish off this gem of a box!  I plan to fill it with colored pencils and pens and give it as a gift to a special person!

I hope you enjoyed my altered project today!

Embossing on Adhesives

Hello, Birgit here today! Welcome to the WOW! Embossing Blog!
In this post I want to share with you some fun techniques using embossing powders on adhesives.

For the first tag I used an E-Z Dots Permanent dispenser from Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L and adhesive to the background randomly. Then I used multiple colors from the new Special Embossing Glitters set Caribbean Jewels (awesome colors!) and heated them. After the embossing I sprayed the tag with spray paint to add color to the open spaces. The embossed parts create a resist.

Ohhh, I love the texture!! When the tag was dry I added some 3D Foam Hearts and embossed them with Indigo Super Fine. I'm a big fan of this color because when you over heat it a little the color changes to a bright shaded pink! One of my favorites!

For the second tag I covered the background with an Adhesive Sheet and put some of the backings of the 3D Foam Hearts on top to cover up parts of the tag. Then I added embossing powder, removed the hearts and added another color of embossing powder to those parts. Then embossed the whole piece in one session.

See how the Indigo embossing powder starts to crackle a bit in combination with the adhesive? What a cool effect!

Materials used: Special Embossing Glitters set Caribbean Jewels, Indigo Super Fine, E-Z Dots Permanent, Adhesive Sheets, 3D Foam Hearts (all adhesive from Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L) Tiny Words from Cosmo Cricket, Tattered Angels spray paints.

Thank you for stopping by!
Wishing you a wonderful weekend,
Happy crafting!

Alter an old frame to a lovely Sping project

Hello, my dear crafty friends! Spring is here and as spring is all about innovation, I decided to give my old and ugly frame a new lovely embossed look. Here is my final result- Spring all around as you can see.

The frame was white painted and dirty, but I didn't even clean it too much, just covered it with a Wow Versamark Inkpad and made some  heat embossed layers all over it.
The first layer was with  WG03 Green and it was too shiny. So I added more embossing ink over it using Wood grain CWS stencil and  WJ02 Honey embossing powder. And it was too shiny and yellow after all. So I covered the  whole frame with more  ink and added  WH03 Evergreen powder.
Bingo! The  wood grain texture is seen under the upper powder layer and I like the colour much more.

The inner frame is Tando Creative, covered with   some  green paint and then I stamped a few white heat embossed doodles over  with   WL01 Bright White Regular  embossing powder.
All flowers are  covered with a mix of pink( Pastel pink, WR04 Pink, yellow ( WH06 Lemon, WR03 Yellowand white embossing powders, a really random coverage and mix. The title was heat embossed with WM01 Pastel Pink.
One resin embellishment was added and I backed the frame with Scrap Cake piece of paper.
Hope I inspired you  to make your own up cycled project with our gorgeous embossing powders and you still have time to enter it to our monthly challenge and to win some of those delicious powders!

The Perfect Pair

Hello, its Donna here today to share a layout I created for a great friend.  This layout is very clean for me but I love everything about it.  I hope you do to .

I have used WOW Embossing stamps and embossing powders as my main embellishments for this layout.

I have used the boarder stamp to create a patterned paper back ground and a strip stamp out of the Gratitude stamp set  to add an extra layer of wee hearts.  I embossed the background and those cute little hearts in Primary Ebony.

Do you have lots of sheets of alphas that are not the right colour, easy solution to this is to emboss them to a colour that suits your project.  My theme was white, black and pink and I really liked the idea of just a few of the letters being pink.

Adding small touches is a key to a good layout,  I love to add that little bit of extra like the wee pink squares in my hand drawn boarder, or the wee pink love heart that I created by using the WOW Embossing pen  and the yummy  Fluorescent Pink.

I hope you dig out your embossing powders and have a play, remember its coming to the end of the month but you still have time to enter this months challenge,  click here for full details HERE.
That's all from me for now, take care and happy scrappin  xox     Donna

Mixing it up a little....

I have had soooooo much fun with my project for this month and I have been really looking forward to sharing it with you all.....
I decided that I wanted to make a canvas for this months challenge - this is an 8x8 canvas.

This is the finished canvas...
This was a wooden word that I have had for a long time that I have been just waiting to use...
I coloured the base shape with pens then triple embossed the whole shape using clear gloss.
With the powder still warm, I then stamped it with this stamp..... it's an amazing stamp that I have used for sooo many things.
To create the base canvas.... oh I had a lot of fun!
I covered the whole canvas with pva glue - then added scrunched up tissue paper...... I covered this again with more pva glue and sprinkled over a layer of silver embossing powder..... Heated it gently then repeated...
This was how it looked when I was finished.
Here is a little close up for you.....
Here are the embellishments I created............ they are coloured with pens and ink and then embossed with clear gloss.

So when I put it all together this is what I got...
I had a lot of fun and am already planning my next canvas..
Leave us a link to your blog when you have been embossing and playing and I'll pop on over and leave you a comment.

Happy crafting
