Rainbow Birthday Wishes Card

Hello! Nicole here with a brand new card to share with you guys. Today I wanted to share an easy way to create a watercolor background card using a background stamp set, embossing powder, and watercolor mediums. This card is super easy to create and you basically let the water do all the work!

To create the background, I stamped the Sexi-Hexi Stamp Set with Versamark on to a watercolor paper. Then I heat set it with Bright White Superfine Embossing Powder. Make sure you wet the whole layer with a clean water before adding colors.

I used few colors to create a rainbow background - this is my favorite color combination to use. You simply drop a color onto the paper and let the water blend colors together. You can either dry the layer with a heat gun, or let it dry naturally by leaving it for about 15 min or so.

For sentiment I used Everyday Sentiment Stamp Set and placed it on the bottom right color of the card. I didn't want to use any big or fancy greeting since I want the background to be a focal point.

I hope you enjoyed today's card! Thanks for checking in.

Watercolor inspiration

Hi there Wow fans, this is Jenifer here with you today to share my project.  I drew my inspiration from this oh so talented team, from Nicole, did you happen to see her beautiful butterfly card?  I was drawn to it and just knew I had to give this technique a try.  She has a wonderful video of her process as well, you can check it out here :)
I chose the Lace stamp from WOW and just colored in some of the flowers with different colors of watercolor.  The image was a little hard to see on the white cardstock so I went around it with a smokey grey watercolor to make it pop just a little bit.

As you can see I need a little bit more practice but I am happy with the result.  This is a pretty easy technique and I will definitely be trying it again soon.  Thank you so much Nicole for the inspiration.

Inspired by...Laughter!

The theme for this month is 'Inspired By'.... and I've chosen to use a technique shared by Birgit Koopsen many moons ago in Craft Stamper Magazine. I adore this technique, and have used it rather a lot since Birgit first shared it with us! Basically, it's all about 'painting with powder'.....
Every last little bit of colour on this panel is embossing powder...
The background is created by layering lots and lots of colour on top of each other...creating an almost airbrushed effect!
The layers were created with regular powder, and I used ultra high powder (Ebony Black) to create the larger black splat effect.
Once the background is cold, Versamark ink can be sponged through a stencil, and then more powder sprinkled on top. Once melted in, it gives the seamless stencilled look...

I also added my favourite rose as a finishing touch.... Apple Red powder, with red glitter powder added to the mould first before pouring. This gives the glitter top coat finish...
As you all know, I love my paints, and using powder to paint with is just as much fun!
See you soon!

Wall Canvas

Hi all

For this month's project Iv'e focused on one of Irit's lovely wall canvasses as my inspiration.

I love the way Irit uses WoW Embossing powders on her canvasses so thought I would use up some of my embellishments to cover with powders and add to a canvas for home.

I placed tissue papers onto the canvas, painted it with white and green paint then when dry used my Embossing pen to add some dots which to which I added some pink powders. The feathers were Die cut then also embossed lightly with pink and white powders.

The main heart was cut out and another heart punched into it before embossing again with pink powders.   I used chipboard letterrs which I used for the main wording.

The heart and flowers were made by melting embossing powders then pouring them into the moulds (on the WoW website here)

The light greens, browns and pinks go well together. Back soon with another creation.

Pebble Messages

Hello and welcome back all.  Today I am sharing with you a project inspired by my fellow team mate Christine.  Christine had a lovely idea to turn pebbles into paperweights for our home Decor projects.  I thought this was very clever and decided to play round with the idea.  Here is Christine project.

I wanted to make my friend something small and
meaningful and came up with this.

I really liked the idea of something small and I wanted
something that could have a wee message on it.

I used the melting pot and added colours to my Melt It Powder.
I poured some of the liquid onto a craft mat to create my message pebbles.

With the remaining liquid I poured it into our very cute
heart moulds and made these super cute sayings.

WOW Products I used:

 WS62R Calypso

WH14 Blue Topaz

 WH12 Sunset Orange

WS61R Orange Fizz

WS29 Easter Sparkle

WS14 Clear Gold Highlight

WS64R Raspberry Coulis

WH13 Purple Orchid

WS25 Green Shimmer

WH09 Luscious Lime

Heart - Silicone Mould

Wow Melt-It! Powder

Well hope you all like my wee project and it inspires you to create  your own.
Until next time happy scrappin everyone xox Donna

Love & Inspiration...Happy Valentine's Day!

Happy Valentine's Day!

This is one of my favorite holidays. It makes me giggle. Then I start to shake...then I get inspired which lead to today's project!

We were challenged this month to lift a fellow design teammate's art. I love Nikki Smith's work and took guidance from her project from last month

Lamp Photos by Nikki Smith

I love the pattern of the butterflies. It's linear but still seems free-floating. I take the same approach with the hearts I use on my card for today. This card is inspired by Valentine's Day, Nikki's butterfly pattern, and I must give a nod to Nichol Magourik for her tutorial on Shaker Border Cards.

I used Pink Fizz embossing powder, Melt-It and the Ornate Heart mold to create the focal point embellishment of my card.

I used super fine opaque white embossing powder for the sentiment I made from a few words in the "It's all Relative" stamp set from Wow! Look at the amazing definition from our Wow! Embossing Powders!

The shaker card came together relatively easy and is a beautiful finished piece!

Inspired by Sian

I just loved this months theme, to be inspired by one of my amazing team mates. I had a hard time deciding on what to do but that is ok since I got to visit all of their blogs and also browse back here in the WOW! blog and finally I found this card by Sian that I think is so clever and pretty!

I loved the windows that shows the pretty stamp and that it's really a clean design. It's just a great card!

I sort of copied it, but I just made two windows and used one of the new stamps that I love! I spent a good amount of time coloring the whole background even though a lot is covered up. It was just so much fun to color all of those flowers.

I made it into a birthday card, since it is my birthday today :) It's really a shame that it's so hard to capture glitter on picture. I stamped the sentiment with black ink and embossed it with some clear hologram glitter to make it sparkle in the light. It's really pretty! I wish I had thought of it earlier, then I would have embossed the flowers too with the same glitter. Maybe next time. I think the windows are such a great way to show off pretty background stamps, I will definitely use this design more times.

DT Inspired

Hello there!

I hope this finds you all week and that you're enjoying our month CASE-ing!  I love being inspired by all of the fabulous talent in the blogosphere - and the WOW! Design Team is absolutely teeming with it, so what better place to get inspiration!?!

I have chosen a card by the wonderful Nicole Picadura.  I love Nicole's style it's fun and fresh, CAS but with a hint of freestyle collage magic - what's not to love?!!

After trawling her amazing blog, I chose this card to CASE...

Isn't it stunning?!!!

You will notice that I loved this card so much that my CASE is very literal!!!

I created my own version of Nicole's gorgeous watercolour background by dabbing Distress Inks directly onto the front of the card and then spritzing it with water.  This created nice, but unexpected, splashes over the rest of the card front.

I then stamped the words 'Live, Love and Laugh' from the Collage stamp set and heat embossed them in Opaque Bright White, Primary Ebony Super Fine and Metallic Silver respectively.

To complete Nicole's look, I added some metallic sequins onto the card and I was done!

I like the way that this card turned out, and I have Nicole to thank - thank you!!

I hope you guys will join in with us this month...there's loads of inspiration which makes it difficult to choose, I know, but maybe try out a few different styles!!

Thanks for stopping by!

My Inspiration

Hi Everyone

This month at WOW HQ is the theme 'Inspired by fellow DT'

I have chosen Birgit Koopsen and she makes some fantastic backgrounds with different mediums.  Her philosophy is
'Everything in life is Scrapable'

Here is my take on her blog post 'When on Malta'

I made this by:
  • Starting with a 12 x 12 sheet of cardstock and painting it with white  Gesso.  I heat dried this.
  • I then took some masks and used some medium paste and had a palette knife and pushed the pattern through the masks.
  • Straight away I sprayed some light inks and tipped the paper so that it ran down the page this was so that some of the ink would penetrate the medium paste.  I then let this dry.
  • I then got a dew drop stamp and stamped onto newspaper with versamark and Platinum embossing powder.  I heat set this and cut the dew drops out and coloured them in with dark brown inks.

  • I then took a flower stamp and stamped this out with versamark and heat set with ebony embossing powder.  I stamped over the petals with the stamp of the month   De-vine in again versamark and ebony embossing powder.
  • The leaf dies I covered in versamark and ebony embossing powder and heat set.
  •  The balloon I stamped in versamark and ebony embossing powder and then added walnut stain distress ink.
  • The bottom border is a spellbinder die.
  • The borders behind the picture are from spellbinders and I covered these in versamark and heat set with metalic copper embossing powder.
  • The word love is chipboard and I coloured this in the promarkers and over the top added clear embossing powder and heat set.
  • I added a few metal embellishments a cotton flower and ribbon.
  • The picture cam from
It took me a few days to do the final piece and this is what it looked like at the beginning of the week as I didn't know where to put the embellishments:

Take care and have a wonderful month.
