Summer Planning By Jaine

Like many people I'm a big fan of planners and planning and at this moment in time I have 6 actually on the go, all different sizes and functions!

Even though I use stickers and papers on the pages, I'm always happy if I can create my own little page decorations. If I'm not feeling lazy I'll use stamps and stencils to pretty up the pages and create little extra's like tabs. Embossing powders add an extra layer of depth and colour to what would be flat stamping so it's worth making the effort.

I absolutely love the Trio, The Ferry Man, it captures summer so well I think with its vibrant colour scheme! Simply by stamping, die cutting and layering up this little cluster I think I've managed to brighten up the coming week.

Don't forget a little tab at the top. I made this one in a couple of minutes by die cutting from some of my rejected pieces!

Have a good weekend everyone.

Faux Enamel Technique by Jaine

Originally, many years ago, I studied interior design and one of my passions was creating faux finishes. Basically, I altered anything which didn't move and became a little obsessed by creating illusions. One thing led to another and by the time I'd discovered embossing powders I was already experimenting with what I could do with it.

One of my favourites was to create embellishments to look like they'd been enamelled. It really is super easy to do and the result is beautiful.

You'll need a fairly sturdy base for this as it involves lots of layers of embossing, so from some thick card cut a shape like a square or oval, something with a lot of surface area.

Give this 3 coats at least of plain Bonding Powder to build up a nice thick layer.

Go over this layer one more time with Bonding Powder but using a palette knife to drop two or three colours of powder onto this. I used Primary Bluetiful, Heather and Gold here. Heat it up to melt the powder definitely heating from und…

LOTS OF HUGS

Hi everyone, this is Martha Lucia here and I am excited to share with you my first official post in WOW blog! The embossing powders have always been one of the my best friends in my creations and techniques. Today I want to share a card that I made using watercolor and WOW Opaque Bright White Regular Embossing Powder and two of the new WOW Embossing Stamps.

To make this card I used watercolor paper and I stamped over it the new Secret Garden WOW Stamp for Embossing using WOW Embossing Pad covered with WOW Opaque Bright White Regular Embossing Powder. Then I melted the powder with the Heat Tool. I colored each flower using a combination of distress ink applied with an aqua painter.

For the general background I applied the distress ink directly with a blending tool and then I sprayed it with water, before pasting this layer to the card base and adding the sentiment that I stamped using the same WOW Opaque Bright White Regular Embossing Powder. This time, I stamped a sentiment from the n…

A Challenge To Make Your Own Embellishments!

Hello WOW! fans!  Jan here with a fun and easy challenge.  Do you ever have an embellishment that you'd like to enhance or change the color or texture of?  WOW! Embossing Powders work well on metals, chipboard and papers.  I used WOW Embossing powders on all of the above to complete my "Nutcracker Sleigh and Mini Album".  The chipboard on the side of the sleigh has been embossed using Presidio Purple.  The sleigh pattern is my design.
Embossed chipboard Embossed Metal Label Holder using Metallic Gold Rich Ultra High. Front of the sleigh with mini album.
A peek at the inside of the mini which is made using Graphic 45 packaging, Nutcracker Sweet paper line, Cable Car Red, Presidio Purple and Metallic Gold Rich Embossing Powder. The cover of the mini is a shaker with tiny jingle bells.  I have left the clear window in place and heat embossed with Metallic Gold. A look at the jingle bell shaker A few more pages.
