VIDEO: Use Heat Embossing in Your Cute Scenes with Jenny Colacicco

Hi everyone, it's Jenny here, and today I'm going to show you how I incorporate heat embossing into a cute critter scene card.  Normally I tend to use abstract shapes or frames with my heat embossing, or use it on sentiments.  I want to show you how you can incorporate it into a scene!

I've created a video showing how I made the card and you can check it out here or over on the WOW! Embossing YouTube channel.

My card today uses the fun Really High Five critter stamps by Lawn Fawn.  I stamped out a bear from the set and then colored him in with Copic markers, then fussy cut him out.

My idea was to create balloons for the bear using die cuts instead of the stamped images in the kit, and heat emboss them to give the balloons shine.   I used Heffy Doodle Whole Lotta Hearts dies for the balloons to up the cute factor.

I swiped my ink pad over WOW! Embossing cardstock, and then heat embossed it, before then running that through my die-cutting machine with hearts dies.   I used …

Knitting on Repeat with Gemma

Today I have a card to share using this month’s theme of ‘Repeat Patterns’. I’m using the WOW Simply Sew stamp set, teaming it with WPlus9 Knit Patterns stamp set to create my repeat pattern background.

I began by cutting a piece of blue cardstock to slightly smaller than my A2 notecard base.
Using a stamp positioner, I repeatedly stamped one of the larger images from the WPlus9 Knit Patterns stamp set over the background, using WOW clear embossing ink, then heat embossing with WOW Metalline Blue embossing powder. This opaque powder shows up beautifully on dark cardstock.

Once I’d embossed the whole panel, I used the Lawn Fawn Just Double Stitching rectangle die set to add some more detail to the panel. I then adhered it to my white card base.
Next, I die cut two tags using the Hello Bluebird Stitched Tag Builder die set. I embossed a sentiment from the WOW Simply Sew stamp set using the same Metalline Blue embossing powder. I used some silver coloured thread to tie the tags together…

Spring Scene with Gemma

Today I'm sharing a card inspired by the WOW Facebook Challenge theme, which is 'Nature'. This sweet scene die from Pretty Pink Posh is perfect for this theme. Embossing die cuts is a great way to add some sparkle and interest too.

I began by die cutting the Spring Scene die from Pretty Pink Posh several times. I'll layer some of these pieces together to add dimension.
I like to have a base layer to adhere the scene pieces to, so I used a die from the Hero Arts Infinity Circles die set to cut a circle the same size as the frame of the scene. I adhered the frame to this base layer.

Next, I added colour to the die cut scene pieces with distress oxides in tumbled glass, mowed lawn and lucky clover. I adhered the sky, grass, stems and leaf pieces to my base layer.
Using the beautiful Gemstone Trio of embossing glitters, I embossed the three flowers in different colours. I decided to add two layers of the embossing glitter to each flower. To do this, allow the first layer …

Pretty in Pink with Gemma

I love clean and simple designs and embossing powders are a great way to give them that WOW factor.

I began by die cutting the Pretty Pink Posh With Love Shaker die from white card. I covered it with WOW clear embossing ink, then heat embossed it with WOW Cupcake Heaven embossing glitter. I repeated this step to get more dimension.

On my white card base, I masked off an area at the top and bottom edges, then used the embossing ink and Cupcake Heaven embossing glitter again to add some of the same colour.
I added some stitching detail to a white panel, using the Lawn Fawn Just Stitching Double rectangles, then trimmed the panel down so the embossing shows when it's adhered to the card base.

Finally, I used liquid glue to attach the embossed heart to the card.
The Cupcake Heaven embossing glitter is so pretty and a great way to add a pop of colour and sparkle to your designs.

Have a lovely day,
Gemma
