Creativity requires courage - a journal page by Riikka Kovasin

Hi there! It's Riikka here again, back with a guest project or two! First up is a journal page and then later in the month I'm sharing something completely different. But both of the projects were inspired by this month's theme - embossing glitters.
The embossing glitters look fantastic on every surface, but have you tried them on top of black? To me that's the most exciting way to use them! Paint a few strokes of black gesso to a surface, pop the glitters on and let them do the magic! The contrast between the glimmering embossing glitters and dark background really makes them pop and shine. I left some of the background white sort of to show how different the embossing glitter looks on dark and light background.

To give the page a space or galaxy kind of look, I used some Oxide inks on top of the gessoed surface. After adding the embossing glitters, I then made a composition to back the sticker that's my focal point. I thought the saying in the sticker fitted th…

Glintz Colours On Collage by Jaine

I love a bit of collage and for a while now I've been meaning to try out one of the black pages in my Prima Mixed Media journal. I gathered together a few neutral papers like coffee dyed paper, a dried out tea bag, some calico and a few smaller bits and pieces with the same colour theme.
I thought the new Glintz colours would look amazing on some of these different backgrounds especially as they have a pearly finish on some gorgeous subtle colours.

I wasn't disappointed with the results. Below you can see the Oyster on black which is hardly there at all in certain light.

The Rose Glintz too blends in to this piece of coffee dyed paper and harmonizes with the postage stamp in the centre of the page.

I was most curious to see how the Aztec would look on the coffee paper and I deliberately chose a piece with a huge coffee stain on the side.

It came out beautifully with a subtle shine of coppery pink.

I thoroughly enjoyed putting this page together with some stitching, washi …

Fears Conspire | Art Journal Page

Hello crafty friends,

I hope you're all doing well. It's Fran with you today with some more WOW! themed inspiration!

I've had a longing to do some journaling recently this month's brief fitted perfectly and allowed me to scratch my creative itch, so to speak.

So my page is a rather atmospheric affair which was inspired by one of my favourite songs and the reality of worries and fears. The beauty of journaling I find, is channeling fears and worries onto a page and giving them a creative outlet.

The monochromatic colour scheme worked well with the general theme of the page adding in some small areas of metallic embossing powders lifted it just the right amount.

I used Melt It powder, Ebony black embossing powder and silicone heart mould to create the embellishment which is incorporated into the photo with cotton trailing out from underneath onto the following pages, entangled with words. Using Perissa thick embossing powder adds a texture around the phot…

Because We All Need to Bloom: Art Journal Page

Hi everyone! It's Fran here today with your dose of WOW! inspiration. I decided to try out the new Hey Little Flower and Just Saying stamps combining them into an art journal page

Firstly I applied a layer of clear gesso to my page to protect the pages then once this was dry I added paint and watercolor ink for my colour base. Into the wet paint and ink I added pinches of Silver Stratosphere and Blueberry Cheesecake embossing powders which I heated to melt.

Once happy with the arrangement I stamped various flowers from the Hey Little Flower stamp set around the pages with black ink and WOW's clear slow drying ink pad. I sprinkled Metallic Copper and Pink Lady over the wet ink and set with a heat tool.

I filled some of the petals with a chalk pen and some with WOW's clear embossing pen, which enable me to add embossing powder into those fiddly areas!

I finished off with some more stamping from the Just Saying set, doodles and journal scribbles.
I hope you will be inspir…

Time To Grow

Hello!
This months theme is 'Time', and it seems that right now I have been surrounded by people using that word! The end of the school year is upon us, so all the 'time to move on', 'time to leave', 'time to start new adventures' phrases are coming thick and fast! I've chosen on of my favourite phrases: 'Time To Grow', and have made a flower themed journal page....
I've used lots of WOW products, all in the circles of my flower! I used....
(From left to right)
Olive, Silver Foil, Fluorescent Blue, Apple Red, and Clear(over text paper)

My circles were layered up on top of each other...
As you can see, you can 'do things' on top of the melted embossing powder to embellish it further! I have stamped using ink, stamped using paint, scribbled with a black pencil and added dots and stars!
The flower is on a painted background, lots of stencilling and printing...
A little bit of a scalloped , doodled border...
And a stripey stem and lea…
