Mixed Media Fun

Hello all.  Donna here today sharing with you a project I created for  ' Anything but a card' theme. I created my first ever large mixed media canvas using lots of  new products released this month. Hehe my new favourites,  the colours are delicious and the stamps are perfect for mixed media projects. This is  what I created: I had so much fun with this and got very messy hands.  I absolutely love getting messy and was just what I needed to do.   I started off this project by stamping a large sheet of tissue paper that would cover the entire canvas.  I used the new tropical stamp for this which creates the perfect background for my project.  If you look to the side of the owls head you can see the Tropical stamp image. After the glue had dried I applied some watered down gesso over the entire canvas.  I watered the gesso down as I wanted the stamped image to be seen.  Once the gesso was dry the fun began by adding a mixture of distress paints and some ink spr

Anything but a Card....

Hi Everyone This month at WOW HQ is 'Anything but a Card' I have chosen to decorate an MDF house I purchased some time ago.  I started by painting it all in black then using the ' PVA Glue' technique to make the crackled look.  I  started by taking each side at a time and putting a medium layer of cheap PVA glue on it then covering it with a top layer of yellow acrylic paint.  I then heat set with a heat gun.  The PVA glue dries slower than the paint and so causes the paint to crack.  This is a great cheap alternative to the crackled paints you can get.  I then painted the base with green acrylic paint for the grass.  After doing each side I then used the Cracked leather stamp (Don't put it on an acrylic block, use it in your hand so you can get only part of the stamp in areas giving a distressed look) with Versamark and heat set with Ebony embossing powder .  I then took the triangles and dots from Let it Snow stamp set, and flowers from Grat

Sparkle & Shine art journal page

This months theme at the blog is anything but a card. And my favourite thing to do is making cards. But I do love to make art journal pages too and I've got a small art journal that is almost the size of a card, is that cheating? I made this page using Sparkle & Shine and the little star from Pick 'n Mix. I started by making blobs of color with Distress Paint, using the dauber straight to the page. When it was dry I stamped on top. The text is stamped with an old alphabet set I had in my stash. It's a quote from Roald Dahl. I added some dots with a pen to give it a more whimsical feel. Right now when I'm typing this I wish I would have added one of the clear sparkle embossing powders on top of the jewels. You could easily flip the jewel stamp over on the block and apply versamark ink on top of the stamped image and add embossing powder on top. I might go back and do that.  I hope you like my no-card creation. I think it turned out pretty fun, I love making

Special Gift Box or Ornanment

Hi Wow fans, this is Jenifer here with you today to share my "anything but a card" project. It's never to early to start planning for Christmas right?  So I came up with this little gift ornament. I made this little box and then embossed around the edges to make it look like it might be frosted glass.  I then created this little Snowflake medallion to take center stage.  Top it all off with a beautiful glitter edged bow and you have yourself a fun ornament that could be hung on the tree. If you didn't want to hang it you could always use it as a fun little gift box for some special treats.  How would you use it? Today We Are Happy by Trish Latimer

Hello! This month's theme is 'Anything But A Card'... which suits me right down to the ground! I created a piece of home decor using lots of the new products: The three flowers were created using the new blossom mould. It never fails to impress me just how a quite frankly strange looking mould can produce such an amazing flower! I used three of the new powders to create the flowers, Fairy Dust, Sugar Plum and Silent Night. I mixed each with a little Clear Ultra High powder to make each go just that little bit further! The wonderful Pick 'n' Mix stamps that Maya has designed are so useful, and I've combined a few of them to create my phrase. I stamped in black ink, then embossed with clear extra fine powder to give the shine... I really like the elegant monochromatic look... hope you do too!! Trish xxx WOW! Embossing Powder Shop
