Mixed Media Butterfly Tag by Susanne

Hi my dear crafty Friends!

It's Susanne writing today and I'm sharing a mixed media tag. Yes, I love creating tags!!! Why? They have a super size to test new techniques, you can create cards with them, use them simply as a tag on a gift, add them to your art journal or planner or only keep them as a reference for your self.

I used the lovely "Layered Hearts" stamps together with "Blueberry Cheesecake" powder on my background before I added any color. The tag is colored with liquid watercolors. The embossing acts as a resist. I used the group of tiny butterflies from the "Mariposa" stamps set and the words from the "Just Saying" set.

The butterfly is one of the Sizzix Butterfly Duo. I pressed it softly onto the Embossing Pad and added "Iced Silver" Glitter. It's colored with liquid watercolor. The happy is a die from CUTplorations. I used chalk cardstock from DCWV.

Thank you for stopping by!
Have a nice sunday.
xx Susanne.

MARIPOSA COLORED EMBOSSING CARD

Hello dear friends, Martha Lucia here to share with you a colorful card that I created using the stamp set Mariposa designed by Maya Isaksson and WOW Clear Gloss Embossing Powder. Take a look at my card:

Creating this card was a fun time: 1. Cut the base of the card using Very Vanilla card stock. The size is 4-1/4"x11" with score in 5-1/2" 2. Cut a second layer of Very Vanilla. The size is 4-1/8"x5-3/8". 3. Cut the die cut Leafy Border using Old Olive card stock. 4. Stamp the butterfly images from the stamp set Mariposa over the second layer using Splendor #10 Ink. This is a craft ink in Circus colors. 5. Cover your images with WOW Clear Gloss Embossing Powder and melt it with the WOW Heat Tool. 6. Stamp the words from the stamp set Just Saying by Marion Emberson using the same ink and covered with the same embossing powder. Melt with the WOW Heat Tool. 7. Paste the Leafy Border die cut over the left border of the stamped layer. 8. Paste the decorated layer o…

Watercolor Tag by Susanne

Hi my dear crafty friends.

Today I'd like to share a Butterfly tag with you. I love creating tags, because you can try out new techniques easily and you can use the finished tags in so many ways. I add them to Art Journal pages or my planner. Another idea is, to use them for some wall decor and also on gifts.
For this tag I started with a watercolor background. I used watercolor sprays together with Brusho powders. I used black pigment ink to stamp my butterflie,s because you'll get a better impression on watercolor paper. As I don't want to wait until the ink is dry, I used WOW! Clear matt dull powder on top of the black ink. I add some color to the butterflies with pastel pencils. The tiny background butterflies are stamped with Archival Ink, just randomly.
I am a big glitter fan, so I decided to ink the edges of my tag with embossing ink and add WOW! Turkish Nights Embossing Glitter. I add some sewing to the border for more interest.
The title is cut wit…

FLY - Mixed Media Artist Trading Card

Hi everyone!
Susanne writing today and I like to share this mixed media Artist Trading Card (ATC). I used the lovely "Mariposa" stamp set together with the "Funky Border Strips". I have a step by step tutorial for you:

1. Take a piece of card board and remove some of the front surface. That works easy when you wet it at first. Prime it with gesso and emboss the group of butterflies with Opaque Bright White powder.

2. Use Twinkling H2Os or other shimmering watercolors to color the background. The embossing resists the watercolor and the butterflies pop.

 3. While your card dries you'll have time to create the embellishments. I picked two of the middle sized butterflies and embossed them with Metallic Gold Rich Powder. After that I colored each butterfly with Distress Inks.

 4. Add more interest to the background with the script stamp using a permanent black ink.

 5. Use the WOW! Embossing Pen to add Iced Silver Powder into some of the creases. The…

Thank you butterfly

It's a new year and also a new challenge here at the WOW blog. Today it's me, Maya, who is typing. This month's theme is anything goes so you can do whatever you feel like as long as you use WOW products or heat embossing on your project.
I finally got to use a new stamp set that I designed called Mariposa and this large butterfly is my favourite. I wanted it to fill up most part of a standard sized card front and it turned out better than I imagined. I embossed it in Black Twinkle embossing powders. Its a really pretty black embossing powder with glitter in it. It's very easy to color the butterfly after embossing it, I used Spectrum Aquas and some Sparkle pens on top to make the whole butterfly shimmer.

Look at all that glitter! So pretty! I used the Pick n Mix set for my sentiment and made a striped strip using the long border stamp in the set. I decorated with sequins and some gold thread and my card was done.
Thank you so much for stopping by and I hope you like t…
