ART is in my DNA by Heather

Hi everyone...
Heather back again and for today's make I've used the fabulous and wonderful new Changer powders... and I'm addicted!  I've used all three on this card, Glisten, Sheen and Texture with a clear powder simply because initially, I was just experimenting.
The background is made using Distress Oxide ink pads and then I've taken a PaperArtsy stencil (#PS101) and used a sponge dabber to add the embossing ink from the pad and then sprinkled the different powders on.
You can really see (and feel!) the difference between the three different textures.  Sheen has a soft, satin finish whereas Texture has a real scratchy feel to it and feels like sand almost.  Glisten does exactly exactly what it says... sparkles and twinkles!
The stamp sets I've used are both Aall & Create and  the nibs stamp (#276) has been stamped using Metallic Silver Superfine powder and then coloured using Arteza Brush pens.
The paintbrush (#277) has been heat embossed in three parts.  …

Layered Embossed Hearts ATC's by Jaine

I know I'm a bit of a rebel and have been known on...let's say...more than one or two occasions, to go totally againsed the rules, but this time I think the results are worth it! At my workshops I'm always saying, the rules are there to be broken and for those of us with challenging and enquiring minds we can achieve some wonderful things.

On this occasion I was experimenting with layers of embossing powders and decided to push it as far as I could take it by over heating and blending powders into one another. One of the basic rules of heat embossing is to not over heat your work for fear of it splitting and separating out the oils and colours. Letting one colour melt into another is very satisfying indeed.

For this project I found that you really need a sturdy piece of plain card, watercolour or mixed media card is good otherwise it'll start to bend and buckle under the layers. I also discovered that to help me achieve a deeper first layer I could use a brand new Embo…

Purple Hearts by Jaine

The decorations have been put away, the box of Christmas crafting bits has been closed but there will always be a time for gold or glitter and with Valentine's Day soon to be the next crafting event on the horizon, we'll be turning our attention to all things lovey dovey!
Of course that doesn't automatically mean pink or red, and if you're anything like me you'll want to create something a little alternative, maybe mixing up a few new colour schemes perhaps?
I love to blend colours especially as some of them have amazing colour variations. A few colours which I've only recently discovered are Midnight Dream, Persian Indigo and Royal Crush. These absolutely gorgeous Embossing Glitters are stunning on their own but when used together they produce a richness of colour which I just had to create with.

My background is simply a blend of Distress Oxide inks, left on my craft mat and watercolour paper dipped onto. The three hearts were stamped together with the …
