Fireworks Celebration with Gemma

Fireworks always look beautiful as embossed images on a dark background and they are perfect for celebration cards. For my card today, I used the theme of gold and silver to create an embossed stencil background.

I began with a piece of light purple cardstock, then blended on distress oxide ink in Wilted Violet, Blueprint Sketch and Chipped Sapphire. I used my heat tool to dry the ink on the panel so it was ready for embossing.

Next, I inked over the panel with clear embossing ink and the Pretty Pink Posh Fireworks stencil. I first sprinkled some of the Metallic Silver embossing powder in areas of the embossing ink. I removed the excess, then covered the rest of the embossing ink with Metallic Gold Rich embossing powder before heat setting. This gives a nice mix of gold and silver fireworks, although I'd probably add a little more silver next time so it was more of a contrast.

I adhered the panel to my card base, then added the Pretty Pink Posh Celebrate Shaker die cut on top. I …

Gold Sparkle Christmas Plaid with Gemma

Today I'm sharing a simple and elegant Christmas card design, with some beautiful embossing powder and glitter.

I love the look of tone on tone embossing. I took a panel of Lawn Fawn Gold Rush cardstock and stamped the Hello Bluebird Cozy Plaid background stamp over the top with clear embossing ink. I then embossed the stamping with WOW Pearl Gold Sparkle embossing glitter. The cardstock has flecks of gold in it too, which tones in so well with the embossing glitter.

I added my gold embossed panel to my card base, then embossed a greeting from the Hello Bluebird Bold Holidays stamp set with Metallic Silver Super Fine embossing powder.

Next, I die cut the Merry coordinating die from the Hello Bluebird Bold Holidays set. I die cut this 3 times from white card, layering them together to get a stacked sentiment. On the top layer, I inked it with clear embossing ink, then embossed it with Metallic Silver Super Fine embossing powder.I adhered the silver letters to my card to finish.

Speckled embossed background

Hello, it's Verity with my first video and blog post as a Creative team member for WOW, I'm just pinching myself that I get to be here! I love WOW! embossing powders and cannot wait to inspire you all.
My first video today shows you to create a lovely spring inspired Congratulations card with a speckled embossed background. Back in November 2018, I went to the craft show at the NEC in Birmingham and I got to see some of the lovely samples of the WOW! stand. One card stood out to me and the lovely Marion was more than happy to let me know how it was done. It was as though embossing powder and dusted the card, it was so fine that I couldn't figure it out how it was done.
Usually, you need some type of media for the powder to stick to - ink, water, embossing paste etc, but this pattern was too fine for a stamp. Marion told me, just sprinkle some powder onto your paper, and heat from beneath. And WOW! it works and gives such a lovely soft texture.
So, sit back with a cuppa…

Christmas Plaid with Gemma

Today I have two Christmas cards to share, using some beautiful embossing powders and glitters from WOW.

I love cards where the sentiment takes centre stage. I have a fun sentiment set from Hello Bluebird called 'Tis the Season', so decided to create some embossed backgrounds for the sentiments to go on.

I stamped the C&9th Plaid background stamp onto white card with the WOW embossing ink. I then embossed it with Metallic Gold Rich Super Fine embossing powder, using the fabulous new dual heat embossing tool.

To add the plaid lines, I used a beautiful embossing glitter called Vintage Candy Cane, perfect for Christmas projects.

I created a second panel, using Metallic Silver embossing powder and Pacific Wave embossing glitter.
I trimmed the panels down to be 2.5 inches high, added a thin black card strip at the top, then adhered them each to the bottom of a white card base. You should be able to get two cards from each embossed panel.

I stamped the large sentiment at the top …
