The Debut of 6 Girls & a Smoking Gun

We have so many talented and worldly designers on WOW! Today, I am introducing you to my amazing design team, 6 Girls and a Smoking Gun. We’ve been playing (who can call it work when it’s so much fun!) with the new Suzy West embossing powder collections and several other fantastic colors.

I’ll kick it off in the Golden State and share a layout of the day I spent hanging out with my cousins being “tourists” in San Francisco. I created my own patterned paper on cardstock using 2 colors of ink and stamping various images of the WOW! Call Me stamp set all over the page. I love this set!

You can use any color combinations you like and any of the WOW! Stamps to create papers of your own!

  • WOW EMBOSSING POWDERS:  Suzy West’s Pantry Collection: Honey & Olive, Suzy West’s By the Bay Collection: Black Puff Skyline
  • STAMPS: Wow! “Call Me”, Wow! "Build A Butterfly"
  • INK: Versamark, Stampin’ Up – True Thyme, Studio G Chalk Ink - Green
  • PAPER: Bazzill cardstock, Patterned Paper from Echo Park – “Lift Tickets”
  • OTHER: Echo Park Element Sticker – “Seasons Greetings”, Cosmo Cricket “Upcycle Elements Printed Paper”, Bella Blvd chipboard embellishments “Estate Sale Badda Bings”

In sunny Israel, Irit Shalom put together for us a beautiful card set. She shares some great tips and tricks about card making.
Tip #1 - Use the whole stamp set to make a card set- same sentiment, similar colors, similar design, different stamps. It makes a perfect set as a present.

Tip #2 -  Make 3D paper piecing effect by stamping and embossing your images twice, then cut just parts of them and adhere over the basic image with 3D foam glue.

  • WOW EMBOSSING POWDERS:  Suzy West’s By the Bay collection: Cable Red, California Sunshine, WOW! Clear Glossy
  • STAMPS: Wow! “Call Me”
  • INK: Clearsnap and Versamark
  • PAPER: Bazzill cardstock, Patterned Paper from October Afternoon
  • RIBBONS: Paper Studio
  • OTHER: Sizzix die, EK punch, EK and Dress It Up buttons

Sherrie Suttles, in the heart of the US, brings a new touch to 12x12 layouts with her own embossed embellishments. I love how she puts together a layout with more than 1 photo!

  • WOW EMBOSSING POWDERS: WOW Metallic Gold Rich Pale Regular; Suzy West’s Pantry Collection: Nutmeg  & Olive Regular
  • STAMPS: Wow! "Build A Butterfly"
  • PAPER: Bo Bunny Gabrielle Collection (Gabrielle, Stripe, Elegance, Unwritten Paper, Dot Paper)
  • STICKERS: Bo Bunny Gabrielle Collection
  • FIBERS: Prima & May Arts
  • OTHER: KaiserCraft Clear Crystals

Let’s head back to the North to Canada where my friend and co-designer, Erika Taylor, is sharing her “Love” card. She has a great layering technique and check out the mix of embossing powders on the single stamped background. This is one of my favorite ways to “color” with different powders!

  • WOW EMBOSSING POWDERS: Suzy West’s Candy Counter Collection:  Whirly Pop; Suzy West’s By the Bay Collection: Bay Area Blue & Presidio Purple
  • STAMPS: Wow! "Flowers”
  • PAPER: Heart & Birdie from Basically Bare
  • OTHER: Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist

Let’s visit Anne in the second largest state of the Union. Anne altered a square acrylic plate charger to create this fantastic fantasy diorama. She casts a scene with scrapbook paper in the background, and the pretty little fairy is a digi stamp she colored with Copic markers. I am grass green with envy over those with great coloring talent! [And for you Copic lovers, Grass Green is also known as YG17]

The butterflies were embossed in WOW! Earthtone Grape powder on vellum paper layered on top of stamped white cardstock. Both layers were colored with Copics.
  • WOW EMBOSSING POWDERS: WOW Earthtone Grape Regular & Metallic Gold Rich Pale – Regular
  • STAMPS: Wow! "Build A Butterfly”

Continuing South to the great continent down under, Amy created this layout with tons of gorgeous WOW! embossing powders in different ways. For her background, she coated a piece of bubble wrap with her Versamark Ink Pad, stamped her cardstock, and then poured Bay Area Blue Powder over the top. A few taps and then funnel back into the jar and heat away! The effect is incredible and much more amazing in real life. To add to these gorgeous doilies, Amy punched scalloped circles out of Bazzill cardstock in various colors coordinating with her doilies. She then used a Tattered Angels Glimmer Screen to ink more Versamark over the scalloped circles and then embossed using Cotton Candy, Gummy Bear Green, Whirly Pop & Sour Lemon from the Suzy West Candy Counter Collection.

Last but not least. Amy embossed the Chipboard title. She actually mixed together Cotton Candy and Bay Area Blue to create a unique color combination.  Amy says, “I love the effect of mixing the colours together before I use them but don’t waste too much doing this!” Of course the little rubber duckie got the Sour Lemon Emboss Powder Treatment and after a bit of added bling and doodling, her layout was complete! Amy truly love working with these amazing powders! And so do I!!!
