A Christmas Wreath By Jaine

I love to create wreaths at Christmas time and including them on a card is so classic. If you don't have winter foliage stamps why not look at some of your other stamps for images to adapt. Using the right colours and a bit of sparkle almost any image could be adapted into a wreath for Christmas.

I started simply by lightly drawing my circle on a piece of card. I had a roll of tape at hand so used that.

For the first layer I stamped and embossed directly onto the card with Glamour Green Embossing Glitter, the small leaf from a set by Pretty Pink Posh called Autumn Blooms.

For my next layer I stamped, embossed and die cut (the set also has matching dies which makes this part so much easier) some of the other foliage shapes. I chose Metallic Gold Sparkle Embossing Glitter and as I didn't have a red embossing glitter I created my own by mixing some Coral Beach Sparkles with a little Bonding Powder.

I arranged the pieces on my wreath and glued them down.

The biggest revelation to me which came about quite by accident, I discovered my Embossing Pen actually fits into my Cricut pen housing, so I chose the word NOEL which is a free image on the Cricut Design Space and used the pen to add embossing ink and cut out the word at the same time.

Bingo! Once embossed with Gold Sparkle it looked amazing! I think using the Embossing Pen will be the new feature of my Cricut machine!! Of course if you don't have a Cricut why not try creating some fancy writing with the pen freehand and embossing with Gold.

I hope this has given you a little inspiration to create a wreath card. Just look at some of those flower stamps in your collection add some sparkle and create a wreath.

At the time of writing this the Glamour Green is no longer available but I've linked below to a similar green.

  1. What a beautiful wreath Jaine and the gold embossed sentiment looks great in the middle, and love that you used images which aren't typically Christmas. x

  2. That is so cool you could use the embossing pen in your Cricut (I have Expression so it won't work for me!). I, too, love wreaths and yours turned out beautiful and sparkly!

    1. Thank you Becca, I'm sad you can't get to try out the pen in your machine. There's always hand lettering though.
