Art Deco/Noveau Challenge Time

Hello all, WOW its been a super challenge this month.  I hope you have all joined in.  I must admit I was stuck on this challenge as I had no idea what Art Deco/Noveau was UNTIL.....  I googled imaged it!   AMAZING and what makes it even funnier is that style of art is one of my favs.   So my next issue was what am I going to do.  I think most of you will all relate to this.  You buy papers, awesome papers and save them cause they are so stunning. We'll that's what I do with my G45 papers...I LOVE THEM.  but hardly used them cause I don't want to cut them,  sound like you?  Well I'm telling you something now!   CUT THEM, its so much fun and you can make amazing projects.  Don't be afraid as you can always go buy another piece.

So my share today is inspired by the Noveau style and I have used Graphic 45 with Metallic Copper Embossing Powders and WOW Copper Foil.

I used my silhouette and cut a frame for my project,  at present my project is sitting on paper but I plan to either put her in a frame or use her as the top of an altered book.  What ever I do I promise I will share, but for now I will just ponder on it.

I covered the frame in WOW Metallic Copper, regular WCO2R-L, and to make my frame more solid I double embossed it. Double embossing is you apply your first layer and then reapply your versa mark and added another layer of embossing powder.  You can miss the middle step if you are creating a small embellishment and simply pour embossing powder of it while it is still hot.  But because this frame is large I chose to add the versa mark.

For my butterfly I wanted to incorporate the copper into the actual image. I wanted to be suttle so I added a tiny amount of WOW Copper foil to the edges of my butterflies.

I also added foil to the cogs

For this project I did A LOT of fussy cutting.  I have used 3 of the same image and layered them on top of each other so it looked like the lady was sitting on the frame.

Here you can see the layers, I love doing this.  I can fussy cut for hours, wee tip for fussy cutting is use a really SHARP pair of scissors and wiggle your fingers ever so often.

I have another project that I created for a design team swap a while back which fits into this challenge

I have used Graphic 45 again here, but this time I added white embossing powders to the chip board, you can find the fully project here.

Well I hope I have inspired you to go find some supplies and create for this months challenge.  You still have a few days left.

Take care and Happy Scrappin xox Donna

  3. Love this idea, might have to think about using some of my G45 papers[instead of them purring on a shelf!].
Not sure if this would work, but I have found that Indigoblu flitter glue sticks to wood and metal and gives a slightly raised effect so you wouldn't need to double emboss. It also dosn't boil ,burn or catch fire like PVA glue.

    1. Thank you for your lovely words. you have me thinking. What do you use the glue for? I use versa mark to apply my embossing powders and so it looks nice and smooth I double embossed. Would love to see your project when completed. thanks for sharing, and happy scrappin :-)

    2. I use the glue instead of versa mark its great for any project. The card I made over the week-end [on Wow FBook page] I used the glue for all the embossing. Havn't tried it on the tissue [hand] yet but will let you know if it works.
