VIDEO: Use Heat Embossing in Your Cute Scenes with Jenny Colacicco

Hi everyone, it's Jenny here, and today I'm going to show you how I incorporate heat embossing into a cute critter scene card.  Normally I tend to use abstract shapes or frames with my heat embossing, or use it on sentiments.  I want to show you how you can incorporate it into a scene!

I've created a video showing how I made the card and you can check it out here or over on the WOW! Embossing YouTube channel.

My card today uses the fun Really High Five critter stamps by Lawn Fawn.  I stamped out a bear from the set and then colored him in with Copic markers, then fussy cut him out.

My idea was to create balloons for the bear using die cuts instead of the stamped images in the kit, and heat emboss them to give the balloons shine.   I used Heffy Doodle Whole Lotta Hearts dies for the balloons to up the cute factor.

I swiped my ink pad over WOW! Embossing cardstock, and then heat embossed it, before then running that through my die-cutting machine with hearts dies.   I used three different embossing powders - Iced Silver, Blueberry Cheesecake, and Sparkling Snow.  Don't they go well together!>

For my background, I did a little ink blending over the top of a stencil (I used the Gina K Designs Square Mandala stencil) using pink ink in the centre, then blue ink, overlapping to create purple, and fading out towards the edges.

I worked out where my bear and 'balloons' would go, then stamped the strings from the stamp set, before selecting some of the die cut hearts and popping them up on different levels of foam squares and liquid glue to add dimension.   I then popped up the bear.

The sentiment was from the sent, heat embossed in WOW! Opaque Bright White on black card stock and popped up.  I also stamped the subsentiment directly onto the background and mounted it all onto a white card base.

Isn't he cute!! Heat embossing is a great way to give faux-balloons dimension and shine - why don't you give it a try?!
