Technicolour Garden!...

Well hello everyone!

As you probably know by now the theme for this month's challenge is 'Gardens'.  You've seen Irit's fabulous poppies and Sue's wonderful box frame garden, hopefully my 'technicolour garden' will be just as inspirational :)

'Gardens', I think, is such a brilliant theme as there are so many possibilities and it's open to a mass of interpretation - I can't wait to see what you guys come up with, as well as the rest of the DT!

Unsurprisingly, I made a card for this challenge.  A technicolour rainbow card of happiness - well that was the idea anyway!

Here it is...

Is that bright enough for you?!  :)

As some of you may know, I do love a rainbow...what could be happier?!  Using this idea and the wonderful Collage stamp as a jumping off point, here's how it went...

I measured out the size of the stamp and then divided my white piece of card into seven sections by drawing lines very faintly in pencil.  I then stamped the Collage background stamp onto said piece of card in Versamark.  I placed a piece of printer paper over all of the sections except the first and sprinkled Primary Apple Red embossing powder onto the wet Versamark ink.  After this I moved the printer paper along so I could carry this out on each section until I had all seven colours of the rainbow completed.  As you can see, the powders mixed slightly and overlapped, but I love that!  A full list of the colours I used can be found below.

Once I had heated the embossing powders, I simply cut the card into the seven sections I had already marked out.  Then I cut out the corresponding strips of coloured card, slightly wider than the stamped pieces, to lay beneath each 'garden' section.  Once I had adhered the coloured card to the card base, I grabbed the foam adhesive and popped the garden scene on top.  There was a lot of measuring and working out to be done on this card, although it may not look like it, but I love knowing that everything is EXACTLY where it should be...I'm a bit of a perfectionist and rarely eyeball anything!!  (Did someone say OCD?!)

Then all that was left was to add a sentiment.  With all the colours that were going on, I decided neutral was the way to go.  So I grabbed some black, grey and white card and made this little banner.  For the sentiment I used the Express Yourself stamp set...there are so many words in this set that you can make almost ANY sentiment your heart desires!  The only word that wasn't there though was 'day'.  Not to worry, I just took the 'today' stamp and omitted the 'to' element!  I stamped 'have a happy' first in Versamark and sprinkled that with Primary Ebony embossing powder so that I could see exactly where it was.  I then took the 'today' stamp and using the embossing pen I inked the 'day' part only and stamped that on the end - it wourked a treat!  Some little sparkly rhinestones and I was done!

Thanks so much for stopping by today, I do hope we'll see your creations for this fabulous challenge in the gallery soon! ;)
