Hi friends, Colleen here today sharing an easy and fun way to create mixed media backgrounds! This is a great idea for planning backgrounds in advance so you're ready to go when you need a card!

Below is a bullet list of what to do - but don't stop with my list! Get creative and play with whatever you have in your stash! This list is just to get you started. Let's review:
1. Grab 3 of your favorite colors in dye inks, or grab watercolors, magicals from Lindy's Stamp gang or Colorbursts.
2. Using mixed media or watercolor cardstock, ink blend or ink schmoosh the ink colors onto your card panel. If you're using watercolors, wet your watercolor paper first and then apply the ink using your paint brush, moving it around until you're satisfied. If you're using Colorbursts or some something similar, apply the powder onto a dry card panel and then spray with water and let the color move naturally. I do several at once and then allow card panels to dry.
3. Once dry, grab a favorite backtround stamp and apply an embossing pad in the upper right corner, left middle, and right lower corner. Leave at least half the stamp clean.
4. Place the inked up image face down over the stamp and press gently to get the sticky embossing pad transferred onto the card panel.
5. Add your favorite embossing powder over it and heat dry. If there's too much embossing powder on your card panel, remove some with an old paint brush.
6. Grab a 4th ink color and apply it onto your glass media matt. Spray it down with water and then grab the color with a paint brush and splatter over the card panel. If desired, add more than one ink color.
7. Allow to dry and set aside until you're ready to use it.
Below is my video tutorial to help you visualize what I've explained above. If you have trouble pulling up the video, visit the WOW! Embossing You Tube channel and you'll find it there!
The card below was created using one of the card panels that I made in my video. I love that bright pop of color and coordinating flower! Can you see how effective it is to make these panels in advance so they're ready for a card when you need one?
I hope you enjoyed this tutorial today, and have a blast creating these card panels! Warning - this is addicting!!!
