Spring Scene with Gemma

Today I'm sharing a card inspired by the WOW Facebook Challenge theme, which is 'Nature'. This sweet scene die from Pretty Pink Posh is perfect for this theme. Embossing die cuts is a great way to add some sparkle and interest too.

I began by die cutting the Spring Scene die from Pretty Pink Posh several times. I'll layer some of these pieces together to add dimension.

I like to have a base layer to adhere the scene pieces to, so I used a die from the Hero Arts Infinity Circles die set to cut a circle the same size as the frame of the scene. I adhered the frame to this base layer.

Next, I added colour to the die cut scene pieces with distress oxides in tumbled glass, mowed lawn and lucky clover. I adhered the sky, grass, stems and leaf pieces to my base layer.

Using the beautiful Gemstone Trio of embossing glitters, I embossed the three flowers in different colours. I decided to add two layers of the embossing glitter to each flower. To do this, allow the first layer of embossing to cool, then re-ink with embossing ink, cover with more embossing glitter, then melt with the heat tool. This gives great coverage.

I adhered the embossed flowers on to another die cut layer to give more dimension, then added them to my scene. For the centre of the yellow flower, I used a copic marker to add colour. I used copics for the butterfly too, layering up for dimension then adding to my scene.

I then added two more of the circle frames to the scene. I also stamped a greeting from the Party Friends stamp set on the grass.

Next, I used one of the large dies in the Hero Arts Infinity Circles die set to create my circle card base. To do this, position the circle die over a pre-scored card base so the top of the die is above the score line. This keeps the fold in place - just die cut another circle to add over the top to hide the fold. To help the card base stand up, use a trimmer to cut a litte off the back of the card base, at the bottom edge. The straight edge will then stop the card from rocking.

I die cut a smaller circle from Lawn Fawn Spring Perfectly Plaid 6x6 paper, then adhered that and the Spring Scene to my card to finish.

Happy crafting,
Gemma
