Metamorphosis with Heather Mitchell

Hi everybody...
I'm back today sharing a card I made using the gorgeous Catherine Pooler Trio Bundled Up which includes Peppermint Scrub (a glorious deep pink), Skylight (a beautiful teal colour) and Sage (a mid-tone green) and all three have metallics flecks of gold and silver running through them.
I have a drawer in the craft room which is full of MDF shapes and words and bits and pieces I've gathered over the years and I rarely dip into it for some reason.  So for this make I used one of the butterfly shapes (I think it's an old Docrafts one but don't quote me on that).
After painting with a thin layer of gesso, I've squished the Wow! Embossing pad over the butterfly and then sprinkled with the Peppermint Scrub powder.  I repeated three times to give a really deep finish.
I decided the butterfly on it's own looked a bit bare, so added some vellum to the back.  I stamped some grungy polka dots onto this using Opaque Bright White, this just helps freshen the colours up I feel.
I love working with circles, definitely my go-to shape and so I die-cut one out of super smooth card and then heat embossed it using the teal Skylight powder.
Me being me, I had to add some texture and a bit of grunginess to the make so used the new 'Scribble' stencil from Visible Image and with a sponge dabber, added the Wow! Embossing Ink.  After sprinkling the Sage powder on and heating, I used Peacock Feathers and Broken China Distress Oxide Ink Pads to add some extra colour.
After photographing the die-cut circle and background, I decided it looked a little plain, so dabbed some of the Mixed Media Embossing Brush around the edges of both and sprinkled with Weathered Gold powder (from the Metalz Trio in collaboration with Seth Apter).  It adds another texture and makes the edges look like they've rusted slightly.
The Sentiment comes from the Wings of Change set from Visible Image which has been heat embossed in Opaque Bright White onto black card.
I layered some cheesecloth between the layers of the die-cut and the background and also under the sentiment.  This just softens the edges and stops it looking harsh.
And there you go!  A really easy make and you could use any stencil for stamp to add interest to the background... ooh, a text stamp would look fabulous!
