Hello everyone...
I was given a beautiful new stamp set by my daughter recently as she knows I love a feather! The set, 'Golden Feathers' from Altenew works beautifully with the WOW! embossing powders as you can layer up the textures on the feathers and the powders just make it all touchy-feely and fabulous!
I chose to use the new Seth Apter Metalz and Cosmic powders but I've since had a play with bright colours and they look equally awesome!
I've heat embossed each feather using the WOW! embossing pad onto water colour card and trimmed. I used Distress Oxide Ink Pads to colour each feather, just smooshed the inks onto a glass mat and used with a watercolour brush.
With each feather completed, I used Finnabair's Dot Grunge stamp to heat emboss Space Dust (from the Cosmic trio) on the background and washed over it using watercolours.
I also added the sentiment (from the same Altenew stamp set) using Sea of Tranquility, also from the Cosmic trio, and gave a wash of turquoise and blue watercolours.
With the background finished, I added some copper wire which I looped round to make made haphazard circles and then stapled in place before adding a cheese cloth strip.
And there you go! I was thinking you could stamp the outline of the feathers and use the Mixed Media Embossing Brush to drip colours down the feathers... definitely going to try that when I get a moment.
I have to admit, I'm a little bit in love with the Seth Apter trios! I love the muted colours and the speckled effect they give. You can see lots of fabulous inspiration over on the WOW! Instagram page and on the WOW! Embossing Fans page so do check them out.
See you all again soon, H xx
