Fab Foils and Liquid Adhesive with Jenny Colacicco

Hi Everyone!   It's Jenny here and I'm excited to be joining you with another post featuring WOW!'s Fab Foils.  Today I'm focusing on black and gold which is one of my favourite color combos -  super cool but also pretty elegant in my humble opinion!

I'm using liquid adhesive to apply my foil for these cards.  I only tried this with FlitterGlu which I have used in the past for applying gold leaf.  You could try it with other glues and see if it works though!

I created a video showing you how to create these cards over on the WOW!  YouTube channel:

To create this first card, I die cut the letters using Altenew's Bold Alphabet. I die cut 5 of each letter and adhered 4 together, saving one of each letter.

I then applied FlitterGlu with an ink blending tool to the bottom of each of the letters. (I squeezed a bit out on my craft mat and dunked the blending tool in it).

Then the fun part - use WOW! Fab Foil (I used Gold) and press it into the glue - I used a bone folder to push it in.  You can lift it up and reapply several times get the effect you want.  This will be quite distressed but it looks almost like brushed metal up close. I adhered the foiled letters onto the others.

For this card, I arranged the letters in a square on a white notecard and scattered some gold sequins (Vegas Baby by Catherine Pooler) to finish.

For my next card, I used the blending tool to apply the FlitterGlu to a white notecard (I recommend using 110lb cardstock) and blended it out towards the centre.  I then applied the Fab Foil in the same way as before.  When you lift up you have to be careful not to pull too fast or you'll get streaks (which also look cool though).  I then adhered the panel to a white notecard.

I created the letters in the same way as before, using black cardstock, with the last layer being black glitter cardstock, and adhered them down onto the card.  The additional sentiment was created from my handy Dymo Label Maker! I then added some more of the gold sequins.

For my final card, I took another panel of thick white cardstock and flicked FlitterGlu onto the panel using an old paintbrush. I added a little bit of water just to make it more 'flickable'.    I then went back in with the foil again.  The bone folder squishes the spatters and you get streaks - it looks very shiny in real life!

For my sentiment,  I die cut the Catherine Pooler Celebrate die from black craft foam and black cardstock and adhered them together.  I bent the word a little to give it an arch, and then adhered it down.  I added some more of the sequins for that extra bit of sparkle!

Word of warning - this is a little messy. You'll get glue on your hands, and this is very sticky.   If you don't like sticky hands, I'd recommend gloves!

  1. I love the black and gold Jenny and the first looks great with the partially foiled letters, and the other two with different black sentiments with some gold in the background have worked beautifully too, and the black glitter is lovely and sparkly. x
