Let it snow, let is snow, let it snow!

Hello to you all,

It's Sarah here and I thought I would share with you a couple of cards that I made and sent out to family and friends at Christmas...

On this card, I wanted the snowflake to be suspended so it would hang and create movement.
I started by creating the card background that the snowflake would hang in front of. I used a square card and measured 3 cm from each edge of the front of the card and then cut this square section out.

I then typed different Christmas sentiments and selected different sentiments to be in different fonts. I selected the font colour to be grey (30% black) and then printed this onto transparency paper. I printed a complete A4 page so that I could make two cards from the one sheet of transparency paper. I cut two squares 12 cm x 12 cm from this printed transparency and then mounted one square onto the middle of the card using 3mm foam squares.

The foam squares used to mount the transparency were slightly visible through the transparent paper which I didn't like so I created 4 silver circles to hide them! Using a standard hole punch, I punched 4 circles from silver card and attached these circles using glue dots to cover the unsightly foam pads.

Next I made the snowflake. I digitally cut a snowflake from thin card and then inked this up with Versamark and then covered with Metallic Silver Embossing Powder and heat set this. As I was making up quite a few of this design (30 cards in total), I created the snowflakes in batches and heat set them in an oven at about 140 degree's for a couple of minutes. To suspend the snowflake, I cut a thin strip (3mm wide) of acetate and attached this to the inside front of the card and then folded it to hang infront of the card and attached the silver glitter snowflake to the front. I finished the card by adding a white insert to the inside of the card.

The second card was made using the Blizzard Stamp and Blueberry Embossing Powder and finished with a strip of navy blue satin ribbon. The stamp fits perfectly onto a square card 144mm x 144mm.
