Embossing on wood...

Hi everyone! Irecently taught a class in Indonesia using WOW embossing powders and one of the surfaces we embossed on was wood. Embossing on raw wood is easy, but painted one can be a little tricky. You have to be careful to not overheat the wood cause it will burn the paint. Our base was white wood and some ended up with a toasted one like brown wood:) The different kinds of WOW embossing powders also react differently to heat. Here are a few that we encountered...

The laser cut chipboard here was painted and embossed with the clear glitter powder. simple easy, no problems at all...

This one is a bit more tricky... the bodacious blue embossing glitter retains its color and shimmer even when embossed. So you have to work it slowly sa as not to burn your surface and yet at the same time make sure that you have embossed your image properly. The shimmer and detail this powder provides is amazing!!

The script text here was embossed using the sierra sunshine powder.. one of my absolute faves! It melts and lifts beautifully. You will see the color change so it's fairly easy to tell when the image is fully embossed.

The Skyline Puff grey is a very unique kind of powder. It literally puffs up with a velvet like finish! The compass image here was embossed with it and the students ended up touching and oohing over the texture. Really beautiful!

Ok that's it for now! I'll be back soon with some more updates on WOW classes and the projects we made. Thanks for your visit!

And remember, if you want a WOW class done in your LSS just contact us and we will try our best to bring a WOW class to your community.

Have fun with your heat gun people!
