Decorating Christmas Ornaments

Hello lovely crafty friends, it’s Sasha here with Cardmakers delight. We are only a few weeks away from Christmas so I thought I would share this super fun and easy way to jazz up your wooden ornaments. The best part about this is that you don’t need a lot of supplies at all and you probably already have everything you need for it!

There’s a process REEL Over on the WOW! Embossing powder Instagram so please watch that to get a better idea of the process. Also don’t forget to use discount code WOWDTSO for 10% any purchase from any WOW! Embossing Powder website.

I started of with a blank Christmas stocking wooden ornament, at the moment you can buy these EVERYWHERE but the one I used here are from Amazon and I linked them at the end of the post. I applied a healthy layer of WOW! Slow drying embossing ink by pressing the ornament onto the ink pad. Once I had covered the ornament with Ultra High gloss white embossing powder ( yes the chunky stuff! 😂), I heat embossed it. I then repeated these steps again to get a second layer of white embossing. TIP: the more layers of white embossing you add, the smoother the finish of your ornament. ( When you buy the ultra high gloss embossing powder, go to the regular white embossing powder then click the drop down menu for different options and select the ultra high gloss )

For the next step grab a range of red Alcohol Markers. I use ohuhu markers but any alcohol markers or even alcohol ink will do the trick. I then drew a starburst design following the pattern  of the star on the ornament. Your lines don’t have to be perfect so please don’t stress remember crafting is all about fun.  The next step has to be done fairly quickly as if you are embossing on vellum. Just quickly blitz the part with the star  with your heat tool until you see the white embossing powder coming through the layer of red marker. This creates a cool effect like it’s a starburst.

You can add other things to your ornament, I used some crushed glass to add a bit of sparkle to the white part of my sock but glitter paste would work too or why not try some WOW! Embossing powder flocking! I hope you enjoyed this quick craft, the best part about this is that,  this method works on paper too so you can use it to make some cool embellishments for your Christmas cards! Please don’t forget to share your lovely crafts with us on social media by tagging WOW! Embossing Powder.

Thanks for popping by
Crafty hugs,
Sasha

  1. These Christmas ornaments are gorgeous and love the way you have coloured them so prettily with alcohol inks Sasha and the added crushed glass and white embossing finishes them perfectly. x
