Merry & Bright with Heather Mitchell

Please welcome the talented Heather Mitchell as our Guest for the month of October.

 Hello everyone!

I'm absolutely chuffed to bits to have been asked to be October's Guest Designer for WOW!  I'm besotted with WOW! powders and products and I've been having enormous fun creating some inspiration for you all.

My first make uses the gorgeous Thankful stamp set, which I adore!
I began by stamping the florals over and over onto watercolour card using the WOW! Ultra Slow Drying Embossing Pad and then sprinkled over Metallic Gold Sparkle.  After heat embossing, I painted the flowers with watercolours and once dry cut out.
Using watercolour card once again, I die-cut an aperture and then used Distress Oxide to create a mottled background.  Once fully dry, I wiped the embossing pad along the edges of the card and added the same Metallic Gold Sparkle powder to create a grungy border.  On the aperture, I used the WOW! Embossing Pen as I wanted the same effect but in finer detail.
Having added some of the polka dots from the set, I roughly worked out where I wanted my florals to sit and was then able to heat emboss the leaves using Metalline Kiwi Krush.
To add definition to the flowers, I distressed the edges using red ink and shaped them using a foam mat and a flower ball tool to shape.
The sentiment was heat embossed (using the same Metallic Gold Sparkle powder) onto torn vellum and then tore another strip to layered behind.
With the sentiment in place, the flowers were glued to the card which was then matted onto red card before attaching to the card blank.
So there we have it - my first Guest DT make!  Catch you all again soon for another!
