NEC Special - New Product Preview

The Autumn Hobbycrafts show at the NEC, Birmingham, is the perfect place for us to launch some fabulous new products. The show starts tomorrow (8th November) and continues through to 11th November. We're going to be on stand M10, with two demonstration tables, an hourly workshop and plenty of powders, glitters, moulds, tools and cases to buy!

Here's what's new:

Packed in sets of six, these specially selected embossing glitters are only available while stocks last. Video introduction here.

May we present:
 - Desert Sands: lots of gold bling
 - Girls Night Out: evoking the best cocktail colours
 - Caribbean Jewels: can you feel the sunshine?
 - Sugar & Spice: even more sparkle!

Most of the glitters are suspended in clear gloss powder, making them ideal for putting over coloured projects.

For each colour, we've shown the glitter on black card, white card and for the Desert Sands collection on metallic tarnished brass distress stain.

We've tried our Girl's Night Out embossing glitters on the following distress ink colours (as well as black and white):
Black Russian - try with Vintage Photo
Bling Bling - looks great over metallic silver
Port & Brandy - works well over Aged Mahogany
Vodka Sparkle - effervescent over metallic silver
Blue Lagoon - adds sparkle to Peacock Feathers
Campari & Soda - fizzes over Barn Door.

And for these fabulous Caribbean Jewels:
Bahama Blue - chills over Faded Jeans
St Lucia Surf - brilliant with Broken China
Jamaica Green - try it with Pine Needles
Antigua Breeze - sparkles over Tumbled Glass
Martinique Mauve - delightful with Chipped Sapphire
Cayman Coral - works well over Dusty Concord

And finally for the Sugar & Spice special edition:
Salt & Pepper - seasoning for Pumice Stone
Cinnamon - warms up Rusty Hinge
Pink Peppercorn - adds zing to Spun Sugar
Spearmint Sparkle - works well with Shabby Shutters
Aniseed - adds spice to Seedless Preserves
Sugar Cane - sweetens Milled Lavender a treat!

We have three new clear stamps available from 8th November:

WOW! ME Blizzard clear stamp
This is just perfect for all the Christmas cards to be made. The filigree snowflakes make for an elegant background or indeed foreground stamp! Try it on white card with some of our embossing glitters or foils for a sparkly snowstorm.

WOW! ME Collage
A flower border or hedgerow silhouette with inspirational words. Use it on cards, scrapbooks, art journals and more!

WOW! NB Canvas
A fabulous frayed fabric texture. Ideal background stamp. Try using it with white or black puff powders for a really raised, textured finish.

We've developed this product for all those who love to make 3D embellishments using our silicone moulds, or who love melting, mixing and pouring in general! Our new Melt-It powder has a very very fine granule size, which means it melts far quicker than, for example, our clear gloss ultra high powder. Our how-to video shows three ways to melt and mix for those that aren't too sure. Try colouring it with  any of our embossing powders - some of the results may surprise you! Super fine powders work well as colorants, and we recommend adding colours/glitters to already liquid Melt-It and heat again until molten before mixing thoroughly.

Video tutorial: 'three ways to melt' - here.

Handy Stamp Storage Idea

Hello everyone... Happy Tuesday! :D

It's Sarah here with today's blog post created for our Monochromatic theme.

I don't know about you, but I always find I need to use stamps from a mixture of stamp sets and I thought it would be easier if I didn't have to slide each stamp set in and out of the packets all of the time.

I have a bunch of empty CD cases that I had almost thrown out but thankfully I hadn't as they turned out to be the perfect solution! The part that holds the CD easily popped out so I could then position my different stamp sets within them.

I found an old wooden CD box but it had no lid and as all clear acrylic stamps are best stored out of the light, I decided I would make a box lid for it... not just a plain lid though... a Wow Embossed box lid!

Here are brief instructions on how to make it:

Using pearl silver card, I created a square to the size that I needed (145mm) and added 30mm wide rectangles around the square adding in some t…

Altenew’s 4th Anniversary Blog Hop Day 2 + Giveaway

I feel very privileged to be able to do some projects for the fabulous Altenew.
They celebrate 4 years this month, and WOW! Embossing Powders have been with them along the way. And now you can join in the fun and WIN prizes !!!!
We love how our products work so well with theirs… So let me show you what I've created….
We all love a bit of Sparkle, right !!

Let's start off with a video tutorial using the Altenew Blooming Bouquet Stamps and Dies with the Crafty Friends Stamps teamed up with WOW! Sparkles and Clear Gloss.

Hugs & Kisses

With this one I used the Altenew Halftone Hearts Stamp Set with matching word dies.

I stamped on a panel slightly smaller than my card base and embossed with WOW! Pink Robin, Goose and Bird of Paradise. I then die cut two hearts 'layered' in the panel, stuck the middle back in and raised the outer to create an eclipse card. I stamped the 'hugs & kisses' on a piece of card stock and did the Sparkle technique (instructions i…

Life's A Beach

Good morning crafty friends, I hope you're all well and getting very creative this month!
As this month's challenge is summer and I live on an island it seemed only natural that my inspiration card would feature sea and sand.
To create my beach scene I started off with a piece of pale blue card and a rubbed a Clear Ultra Slow Drying Embossing Pad across the top several times. I then sprinkled WOW Peppermint Tea Powder and Under The Sea Glitter over the top, tapped off the excess and melted with a heat tool. I created the sand underneath using Gold Pearl Powder.

For the sea I ran a line of PVA glue in the middle of the sky and sand with my finger, sprinkled with Under The Sea Glitter and melted with a heat tool. For the waves I added small areas of PVA straight from the nib of the bottle when added Opaque White Powder.

The birds and sentiment I have used Opaque British Summer Powder which is one of my favourite new powders, great colour and great name!
Finally, I added beach in…
