My dad's birthday was on April 13th (yep, this past Friday the 13th), so I decided to make him an altered art piece to hang at home. Of course, it had to have a picture of his favorite (well, ok, so far only :) grandkids. Also, since it was going to be hanging in full view, where people can come up ant touch, etc, I knew I wanted to use the WOW Embossing powder to do the finishes to ensure good quality - no rubbing off or falling off like loose glitter.

This is a fairly large piece - for the center, I used a 12x12 sheet of Punky Playground (corrugated cardboard from Punky Sprouts), so this gives you some idea of the overall dimensions. The frame was an unfinished wooden frame I got at Michael's fairly cheaply (especially since I used a 50% off coupon). I then misted it with brown, and then used my Prima "Brick Wall" mask to heat emboss with WOW Embossing Powder - Suzy West Collection Cable Car Red. I also used this red on the pretty laser-cut chipboard butterflies and word "Love", both from Scrapmatts. (All the laser-cut chipboard used here is from Scrapmatts).

I framed the kids' picture with another Scrapmatts frame that I embossed in WOW Ultra High Metallic Copper. I used the copper on the little birdcage as well. The green leaves are from IAmRoses.com - they originally came in a peachy color (I used them in the upper left corner inside the frame and left them naked). To make them green, I embossed them with Suzy West Collection Earthtone Olive Regular. I am so in love with these earthy colors, I can't get enough of them. The little blue bird I heat embossed with Suzy West Collection Cotton Candy Regular. For the laser-cut scroll under "Love" I also used the Cotton Cnady powder, layered over some Suzy West Collection Bay Area Blue Regular, to give it a more worn effect.

Thanks to the powders, this frame really "pops" in person. Must be all that gorgeous Cable Car Red (and I confess - one of my personal fav's).
