Hey Crafty People!
Today I'm sharing a quick tip to help when you've got a busy background and your focal elements just aren't POPPING.
I used Jo's fabulous Frosted Jewels Trio to emboss some die cut snowflakes:
1. Die cut several snowflakes from thick, white cardstock (I used 110lb)
2. Adhere 3 die cuts together to make a single thickened Snowflake.
3. Cover with Ultra Slow Embossing ink and add one of the Trio's powders. Heat set, then repeat to build up a thicker layer of embossing.
I wanted to put my Snowflakes onto this watercolour background that I had sitting in my stack of previously made backgrounds, but the fine details of the die cuts meant they were just getting lost.
So I decided to employ one of my favourite tips for adding a bit of seperation between layers!
4. Tear a strip of vellum and wrap this around your trimmed background, securing it from the back of the panel with double sided adhesive.
5. Adhere the embossed die cuts onto the vellum. It has a softening effect on the busy background, allowing the snowflakes to hold their own, but without losing any of that beautiful background!
6. Stamp a sentiment onto navy cardstock and emboss with Gold Rich Pale. Trim down and adhere over the snowflakes.
7. Finally, mat the panel onto an a2.panel of the same Navy cardstock.
I hope you'll give this idea a go next time you need to help your focal element really POP!
As always, thank you for sharing the time with me, it is always much appreciated.
Have a lovely, happy, safe and wonderful week!
Stay Crafty!
Byeee!

A really pretty look Tasha and a great idea to use the vellum beneath the sparkly snowflakes over that beautiful watercolour background. x
