Exploring Embossing - stamping foam!

Hey everyone, it's Jayne here with the latest instalment of "Exploring Embossing". I don't know if you know, but I am actually relatively new to embossing and before I started guest designing for Wow! last year, I had only really used basic colours (white, gold, silver etc) for sentiments and other limited uses.

So, I thought "exploring embossing" would be a good title for my series of posts, as that is exactly what I'll be doing! So if you're new to embossing, don't be afraid, just get stuck in and have a play, and see what you can do - if I can do it, you can, too!

For today's card, I used my Simon Hurley stamping foam. This is such a cool tool - you heat it up with your heat gun for about 15 seconds, press it into a textured surface (eg, a background stamp or anything you have around the house!) and it picks up the pattern. You can then ink up the foam, and use it as a stamp! I pressed my heated foam into CZ Design's Clean Line Tree cling from Simon Says Stamp, inked it up with Peeled Paint distress oxide and stamped my pattern down, Then, while the ink was still wet, I added Lucky Clover embossing glitter and heat set.

(I did consider adding embossing ink directly to the stamping foam, but I believe you need to use water based inks with it, so decided against it!)

This is such a gorgeous background, I wanted it to be the focus, so kept the rest of the card simple - I heat embossed the Pinkfresh Studio Perfect Sentiments Holiday stamp set in Metallic Gold Rich Pale embossing powder, fussy cut the "Holiday Cheer" sentiment and added it with foam tape. I then finished with some PFS gold metallic pearls.

I hope this has inspired you to try your embossing powders and glitters with stamping foam - it's so much fun, it's addictive!
