Must Try Embossing Technique!

Hi everyone,

It's Colleen and I'm back again Guest Designing for WOW! with another fun way to layer your embossing powders to look like ceramic!

I first learned of this technique from Jennifer McGuire and have loved it ever since! Below is a step by step tutorial on how to create this card. I've also included a video from my own You Tube channel showing you how to create this in detail.

1) Create a background card panel using your favorite alcohol inks and Erin Lee Creative White Gloss cardstock. If you don't have that cardstock, use whatever you normally would use for alcohol inks. Set aside to dry.
2) Die cut Jumbo Tulip from Erin Lee Creative 4 times onto a white card panel. Set 3 of the layers aside and place one layer onto a paper towel.
3) Apply WOW! Clear Ultra Slow Drying Embossing Pad directly onto the tulip layers.
4) Add WOW! embossing powder over the sticky tulip layers using Independent Trio and Fresh Stem.
5) Heat set the embossing powder with WOW! Dual Speed Heat tool.
6) Repeat steps 3 - 5 two (2) more times and heat set between each time and allow each layer to dry between.
7) Adhere the outline of the Jumbo Tulip over the alcohol inked background card panel.
8) Glue the white layers of the tulip set (aside from earlier) together and add the embossed layers to the top of the layers. This will create dimenion to your tulip and help it pop off the page!
9) Adhere each of the tulip parts inside of the outline and allow to dry fully. I suggest you put an acrylic block over them until fully dry.
10) Finish with a sentiment from the Rainbow Flower stamp from Erin Lee Creative.

Below is a close up photo of how shiny and ceramic-like those layers look! You can use this technique for almost any design element. The key is to be sure the paper you use doesn't warp. And, let each layer dry before adding another layer. Get playful by mixing embossing powders together too!

I'm so happy you joined me today! To shop the items in this post, click on the item description. You can also shop directly at WOW! Embossing Powder or Erin Lee Creative.  I hope you have fun with layering your embossing powders on your favorite design elements!
