Hello, it's Verity with another video and blog post as a Creative team member for WOW! In today's post we're taking a look at pearl embossing powders and mixing them to create soft serene Christmas cards. I show you both how to mix ready-made pearl powders as well as creating a custom mix too! I'm combing this with a soft colour scheme and a whole host of WOW! stamps and stencils to create beautiful serene Christmas cards.

Mixing ready-made pearl embossing powders:
For this first card, we're going to use ready-made pearl embossing powders. Temporarily adhere the Snowflake stencil down over a piece of Coral Hero Hues cardstock.
Next, apply WOW! Clear Ultra Slow Drying embossing ink through the stencil. With a METAL spatula (as plastic will add static back into the power - that's a big no!), sprinkle over the snowflake Violet Pearl embossing powder. This is meant to be patchy and not covering the whole of the snowflake.
Tip the card off to remove the excess powder and funnel it back into your pot. Next, completely cover the rest of the snowflake in White Pearl embossing powder. Heat set this. As we have used a mid-tone coloured cardstock, the white Pearl will give a pearl tone on tone look. The purple pearl powder will show when light is shone on it.
For the colours to be truly seen, you would need to do this on black card. To finish this card off, stamp Merry from the Merry Sentiments stamp set in Samba ink and fussy cutout. In addition, stamp two small sentiments from the stamp set in Twilight ink.
Add the sentiments to the front and add white pearls to embellish the card.
Mixing custom pearl embossing powders:
For the next two cards, we're going to create custom pearl embossing powder and use it on both coloured card and white card to see the difference.
To create the mix, use a metal spatula to add two scoops of Sheen embossing powder into an empty container. In addition, add two scoops of Judith's Blush embossing powder into the container and give it a good shake to mix it up.
For this card, stamp in embossing ink the Sparkling Presents Galore backgrounds stamp and cover with the pearl mix powder.
Heat set and trim the panel down. You'll notice a mottled/marbling look to the embossing as we have used pearl powder and translucent powder. Where the translucent powder is, there will be a darker look to the cardstock. Where the sheen powder is, there is a pearl tone-on-tone look the cardstock, more so when the light catches it.
This card uses the It's a Season sentiment stamp set stamped in Samba ink and Twilight ink. Once more these were trimmed down to add to the front of the card along with some pearls to embellish.
For this last card, we use the same mix we created on the previous card, but this time used it on white cardstock.
Again, stamp the Sparkling Presents Galore backgrounds stamp onto a white card panel and cover it with the pearl embossing mix we created.
Heat set and trim this panel down to add to a cardbase made out of Coral Hero Hues cardstock. As you can see, this time on white card we have the blush colour from JJudith's Blush embossing powder coming through.
However we turn it in the light, we get a pearlescent shine from the sheen instead of a gloss look we would have got with the translucent powder of Judith's Blush embossing powder.
This was then finished with sentiments from the Christmas Sentiment stamp set which was heat embossed in Opaque Bright White embossing powder.
Again white pearls were added to embellish the card.
