Embossing & Foiling Using Double-Sided Adhesive | Video with Tasha

Hey Crafty People!

It's Tasha here, and today I wanted to have a closer look at a couple of the new release items that I personally designed, plus we are going to be using Double-Sided Adhesives to create today's card.

Taking a Closer Look At The Products!

Abstract Triangle - This fun background stamp is great for adding both texture and fine details to your designs!
It all stamps in one piece, but I saw some really awesome examples from our Design Team where they fussy cut the triangles to create a variety of different things; think Christmas Trees & Bunting!

The lines are really fine, but this stamps absolutely beautifully and embosses to perfection!!! (This is partly because the stamp itself is such good quality, and partly because WOW Embossing Powder is second to none!!!)

You could stamp this once, or why not try stamping and rotating for a really unique look!

Moonlight Trio - This is a fun trio of powders that were inspired by the night sky at various different times/locations.

So we have Grey Sky At Night, which is a fine mix of grey and silver which creates this really awesome mystical look when you tilt it in the light. I can't stop using this for my sentiments and they've turned out perfectly no matter how small I've tried. (This is also the powder I embossed my background with for this card! 😉)

Twilight is a fine Navy Blue with big chunks of white, black and silver. These bigger chunks melt down into the the Navy and create a totally different effect each time. (I absolutely  LOVE using these types of powder mixes because they are just so darn scrummy!!!)

Midnight is a much deeper toned Navy but some fine black and large chunks of Gold throughout. This one makes me think of clear, Starry nights.

Embossing With Scor-Tape

I recently invested in three different widths of Scor-Tape because it is heat resistant; this is absolutely necessary for this technique, and not all tapes are, so please double check before you try the technique.

This is so easy to do! Just line up your tape on your chosen cardstock; I chose to mix up my widths for a fun look, and I used Neenah 80lb. If you want to use different powders then just pull the backing off the ones you want to emboss with your first powder and pour this powder over. Repeat these steps for each different powder you want to use. (The plastic-y backing of the tape did want to hold the powder but it just brushes straight off this with no trouble at all.)

Then you just heat it as usual; in fact I thought it heated quicker than when you are using ink, which must be to do with the increased moisture content of the paper once ink's added.

It really is that simple!

Foiling With Adhesive

You can use WOW's Fab Foils with any type of sticky medium - whether that be the Bonding Powder, Tacky When Dry paste or even double-sided tape & sheets.

Add your adhesive sheet to some cardstock and you can die cut this easily, which is how I created the sentiment for this design.

If you want to have glue on both sides, just add the sheet to both sides. (If you are only adding it to one side and you are cutting a sentiment be sure that you are cutting into the side with the release sheet showing, not the cardstock; or you'll have a backwards sentiment once you come to foil it!

Apply the non-pretty side of the foil onto the adhesive and burnish it well to get optimum adherence. (I wasn't happy with how much coverage I got the first time, so I just put the letters back onto a fresh bit of the foil and I was much happier with it that time.

Unfortunately, I have just got a new brand of double sided adhesive sheets and it's a bit pants to be honest! So it creased up a bit during the die cutting which you can see through the foil, but to be honest, I don't mind that so much for this design.

(You could even use adhesive tape with the rainbow of Foil colours that WOW offer to get some super fun stripey backgrounds! *Note to self make a stripey foiled rainbow! 🌈)

So much sparkly goodness!!! 😍

Thank you so very much for sharing this time with me; I really hope you like the card and also all of the fabulous products in the new release! (Check below for a supplies list AND discount code.)

Have a happy, lovely, safe and wonderful week.

Stay crafty!
