VIDEO: Re-cap of YouTube Live with Erica

 Hi WOW! fans!

Did any of you catch the first, of hopefully many more, Time To Be WOWed YouTube live shows last week?? DT member Daniel and I got together, socially distantly of course, and had some fun live on the WOW! YouTube channel. We had the best of intentions of actually finishing a couple of cards but we didn’t quite get there, too much laughing and jibber-jabbering! In case you missed it, you can catch the replay.

Our plan was to make a couple of cards with the Garden Florals layering stencils from Pinkfresh Studio, and as I mentioned, we didn’t finish them all in the hour but I did finish five afterwards. These are the cards we are going to have a look at today. Oh, and some swatches I made with some of the new powders too. Can you believe that I only started to swatch my powders this year?? Yep. True story.

I did my first ever swatch with the Egyptian Turquoise and boy, did I fall in love quickly or what? I was totally blown away by how gorgeous it was, and it looked nothing like the unmelted powder! So naturally, I had to do the other two colours in the trio.

The swatching quickly escalated, and another trio was done too. And then another... You know how it goes, right?

The final trio I did was this gorgeous glittery one, which has Strawberry Daiquiri, Mai Tai and Mojito in it. Super bright and glittery, what else could you wish for?

To finish off the cards, I have used some of the powders from the swatches above, as well as Halo and Rich Gold.

Daniel told me about a cool trick he picked up from Yana Smakula, about using a blending tool to get your ink into all the small details of the stencils. I didn’t do that on my first couple of panels, but did try it on the rest and wow (Pun intended!!) what a difference that made!

The card on the right, I forgot to use my anti-static tool and I just dabbed the ink pad over the stencil. It worked, but the result wasn’t perfect as you can see below.

I still finished it off and used it for a card. Would be crazy not to, wouldn’t it? For the second card I used my anti-static tool and the ink blending tool to get the ink through the stencil. The results were so much better!!

The Ancient Jewel trio came out again, and I used the Royal Emerald, again with a big fail.. I didn’t use the anti-static tool and I dabbed the ink pad directly through the stencil. The heat embossed powder itself looks fab though.

On the second card I used the Decadent Ruby to add some details on the flowers, and it went so well with the colours of the inks!

The background was done by sprinkling only a little Rich Gold powder on a Big Plaid stamp, for a bit of a shabby chic look.

On this card I used both Strawberry Daiquiri and Mai Tai to highlight the flowers, and having the pink and yellow inks under them make the glitter powders pop even more!

My absolutely favorite was this last one though.

I used the blending tool trick with the embossing ink and this one is done with Halo, which is my new obsession!

Well, that’s it from me for today but I hope you found this post fun and inspiring! Don’t forget to hop on over to the WOW! Embossing channel and check out the video for this, and the replay of the live show!

Lots of love and happy crafting from Erica

  1. Beautiful flowers Erica and and love all the different colour powders you have added to highlight them, and also the gold powder on the black to give a hint of plaid in the background of one. x
