How to layer embossing pwoders

Hello, it's Verity with another video and blog post as a Creative team member for WOW! WOW! are know for fabulous colours and also trios of powders. Will that inspired today's set of cards creating bold card panels with a trio of powders - one featuring the new Trio Pick-Me-up! The other two, I created from three powders in the WOW! range showing you can also mix and match your powders. Hopefully, there is a card that inspires you to layer your embossing powders.

Layering embossing powders Written Tutorial:

Card 1: Layering embossing glitters

This first card uses the new Trio: Pick Me Up! Translucent powders will layer over the top of one another and when the overlap you can get a blend of the two colours.

Start off with adding WOW! Clear Ultra Slow Drying Embossing ink to a card panel and cover one-third of the panel with Early Grey embossing glitter from the Pick Me Up trio.  As this contains glitter, make sure you heat set it from beneath.

After the Early Grey is heat set, add more embossing ink and cover the middle third of the panel with Minty embossing glitter from the trio. This layers well with Earl grey and blends beautifully.

After heat setting Minty, repeat the process one last time layering up with Punch embossing glitter from the trio. You may wish to do this several times to build up the layers and the intensity of the colours.

To turn this panel into a card, use the Julie Hickey Designs lower alphabet designs to die-cut the word happy. For more interest, foam mounts the word with varying depths of dimension for added interest and add a small stamped birthday sentiment as well. Lastly, the card was finished with a few Glossie dots from Julie Hickey designs

Card 2: Layering opaque embossing powders

When you layer opaque embossing powders you will find that when the powders overlap, there will be no blending of the colours - the colour underneath will not show through.

This card panel was made in the same way as the first card. The first colour used is Sea Mist which is Opaque Marbling - this will have a marble look to it as it has powder in it that when melted creates the marble look.

The second layer of colour on this card uses Oceanic which is another Opaque marbling powder. The last colour uses the new In The Navy embossing powder.

Again this card was then finished off with a die-cut and stamped sentiment using supplies from Julie Hickey designs, as well as few Glossie dots.

Card 3: Layering embossing powders seperately

This card doesn't necessarily layer embossing powders, certainly not like the previous two. This card creates embossed strips first and then the strips are layered up.

For this card I'm using some the beautiful Alexandre Renke Powders. To start, cut down three strips of card to 1.5" by 3.75. Cover the strips with embossing ink before you cover with the corresponding embossing powder.

This card uses Karin's dream for the first strip and this contains lager clear embossing powder mixed with gold embossing powder. As I used white card, this shines through the clear embossing powder - so this is translucent.

The second strip uses Ullar's Copngac - a rich honey colour with flecks of gold embossing powder. The last strip uses Manuela's Honey - this is light honey mixed with white flecks of embossing powders. Both of these last two embossing powders are opaque marbling powders.

To layer these embossing powders up, each strip was foam mounted onto a white card base and overlapped to create the layered look. This card was finished off in the same manner as the previous two cards with supplies from Julie Hickey Designs.
