VIDEO: Coordinating Mandala and Shaker Cards with Jenny Colacicco

Hi Everyone!

Today I have two card projects which use heat embossed pieces to create a mandala and also takes the leftovers and to create a shaker card!  This is a great way to use tiny heat embossed bits, by creating geometric patterns on a card or using as shaker filler.

I created a video showing you how to create cards, which you can see over on the WOW! Embossing YouTube channel.

My first card features the Altenew Mandala Maker.  I used the coordinating dies to die cut pieces and create a mandala on a card.  I first chose my embossing powders,  heat embossed pieces of WOW! cardstock and then die cut them.

The colors I used are the newly released Sweet Scoops Trio (all three colors), Sparkling Sand from the Dockside Trio, and Iced Silver.   I used the Mandala Maker stamp set to stamp the placement dots using pale ink onto a panel of white cardstock, then used glue and a jewel picker to place all the pieces, creating a mandala!

I finished the card with a simple stamped sentiment in black ink - from the Better Together 2 stamp set then mounted it onto a card base.

I had lots of pieces left over so decided to create a shaker card.  I grabbed another panel of white cardstock and die cut it with the Altenew Fine Frames Square die set in the centre.  I backed it with acetate then added a double layer of foam tape around the opening, and the rest of the panel.

I took the pieces left over from the Mandala Maker and added them into the square well, making sure all the embossing sides were facing the front of the card.  I then backed it with more white cardstock and added to a white notecard.

I finished the card again with a sentiment stamped in black from the Better Together 2 stamp set.

You don't need a special stamp and die set to get this look - choose any small dies to create the shaker bits and form a mandala!

  1. Two beautiful cards Jenny and love the pretty coloured embossed shapes, and the shaker looks great. It must have taken some patience to set all the pieces into the right places, but worth the effort as the finished mandala and shaker are brilliant. x
