VIDEO: Bright and Sparkly Birthday Card with Erica

 Hi guys!

Erica back on the WOW! YouTube channel today with another sparkly birthday card. I think everyone who has a birthday this late in the year deserves an extra sparkly card to celebrate. This has NOT been an easy year to navigate and survive. Hugs to everyone who struggles and feels alone, please hang in there, things WILL get better!

For my card today, I have again used some lovely Concord & 9th goodies, along with gorgeous embossing powders from WOW! I like colour coordinating, which is no surprise if you know me, and using a coloured ink under an embossing glitter is such a fab and easy way to make it pop even more. So naturally, that’s what I did with this card. I have done it two different ways to show you how you can add sparkles as a detail or just go full-blown sparkly-licious.

The stamp set I have used is called Forever Flower and with the help of a MISTI, I stamped it first with Ballet Slipper ink. Next I used a blending tool to add some Honeysuckle ink to the tops of the petals. The reason I add ink with a blending tool is to get a softer border between the colours. If you stamp with your ink pad directly you are much more likely to get a harsh line.

After wiping the ink off the stamp, I then dabbed the Embossing Pad over the same areas as the Honeysuckle ink and then sprinkled Razzleberry embossing glitter over it. This one is from the new trio Summer Scoops

The second flower I stamped up with Buttercup ink, then again with the Embossing Pad and the glitter powder I used for this one is called Lemon Sorbet. It’s another colour in the Summer Scoops trio, and although the ink underneath made it a bit darker, it’s a lovely summery yellow.

The yellow flower I cut in half and set aside, along with the pink flower.

Originally I had planned on having a white card base and stamp up the dotted pattern you can see on this card with green ink and then heat emboss it over with Lime Rickey, but it just didn’t work out the way I wanted. Instead I used a green card stock, stamped it up with the green ink first, then the Embossing pad and then finally used the embossing glitter on top.

With all these bits done and then adhered to the card base, the last thing to do was add a sentiment. I cut out a banner called Ribbon Banner, also from Concord & 9th, and stamped up the birthday sentiment on it with Honeysuckle ink.

With that, I’m all done for today but don’t forget to make your own card with this month’s theme ‘Birthdays And Celebrations’ for your chance to win a $15 gift card to the US or UK WOW! Stores. All you have to do is upload your project to the November album in the Facebook fan group to be in with a chance to win as the winner is drawn randomly.

Lots of love and happy crafting from Erica
