Today I have a Rainbow Cake card to share, created using embossed cardstock strips.
I used the Pretty Pink Posh Stitched Strip dies to create my cake. I find these help me to get equal width card strips and thinner strips are easy with these dies. You could use a paper trimmer to cut strips, if you prefer.
I chose 6 bright embossing powders/glitters for my cake:
- Razzleberry & Orangeade (from the Summer Scoops trio)
- Picnic Basket
- Jealous Guy, mixed with the Glisten Changer (3:1 ratio)
- Calypso
- Sugared Almond
I inked each strip with the WOW clear embossing ink, then covered with an embossing glitter and heat set.
Next, I cut a piece of thin paper to build my rainbow cake upon. I adhered a thin strip of pearlescent white card to the left edge, then adhered the embossed strips, separating each layer with another thin pearlescent white card strip.
To get the look of decorative icing on the top of the cake, I used a scallop border from the Pretty Pink Posh Stitched Borders 4 die set to cut some of the pearlescent white card.
I adhered the embossed cake to a slimline card base, added a pearlescent navy strip for a candle. To create a candle flame, I found the perfect leaf coordinating die from the Pretty Pink Posh Bear Friends set. I die cut it from white card and embossed with Metalline Flame embossing powder.
To finish, I added a stamped sentiment and a rainbow of Pretty Pink Posh jewels.
Have a lovely day,
Gemma
