VIDEO: Adding Details With Embossing Powder with Erica

 Hi guys!

Erica back on the blog and YouTube channel with more Christmas cards! I've mixed and matched CAS with, more usual for me, sparkly and colourful cards. If you want to skip straight to the video, you can find that HERE

I started out by stamping the baubles from a Lawn Fawn set called Simply Celebrate Winter, three times, on Copic friendly card stock. I then coloured these in with my markers, each one in different order.

With the help of the coordinating dies, I cut these out. To add some lovely details I used both the Embossing Pen, the Free-style tool AND the Seth Apter Mixed Media tool and an array of lovely embossing powders.

For the backgrounds I wanted to try some different colour combos, but with the same Concord & 9th Gingham Background Stamp set. On three card bases I used this stamp mixed with Parsley, Midnight and Cranberry ink, and two of these I also heat embossed with the Changers Embossing powder in Glisten. I have a ready mixed pot of 50/50 Clear Gloss and Glisten Changer.

I finished off all three cards slightly different, just to show how to get different results using the same supplies. One was done by simply stamping a sentiment on a white card base and then adhering the baubles over it.

The green background I trimmed down a little bit and adhered to a card base, adhered a strip with a sentiment and the baubles on top.

One of the backgrounds I tried stamping the Gingham in red ink, but didn't get good clear lines. Instead of wasting the card base, I decided to cut down the blue panel and cover up the red with it.

Shockingly, I love the CAS card the most! I'm usually all about colours, layers and dimension, but with the extra details the heat embossing added, I think the CAS card came out the most elegant. I do however, love the texture of the Gold Sparkle, as seen below.

Well, that's it from me for today. Thank you for stopping by, I hope you enjoyed these cards and got some inspiration for your own holiday cards!

Lots of love and happy crafting from Erica
